On one side you have pro-lifers, who cling to sanctity of life above all reason. A fetus is life, sure, but it's not special, it's not self-conscious life, hell, humans don't develop self awareness until a year or so after birth. But no amount of cold logic could dissuade them from believing that it's a baby. Put yourself in their shoes, from that perspective... how terrifying an abortion clinic must be? It's baby murder factories.

Then you got the pro-choice peeps. and I have to admit here, I really have a hard time understanding this position. At first glance, it seems like a very reasonable, logical position. Preggo woman is a human, a fetus, is not. Abortion can be a logical decision - however, morally neutral it is not. Emotionally neutral it is not. Hopefully sometimes in a future a woman can go to a doctor for an abortion without an army of zealots hounding her, after all the experience is difficult enough. So maybe that's why I perceive this expectation that society leave that choice alone. However, I don't know what a society would look like if somebody can go for an abortion without having society judge that action as appropriate or not. It's probably not something good.

I dunno man, how long before prenatal screening becomes so advanced you can tell what IQ range you kid is gonna be? How likely he or she to be easily depressed? Autistic?
