According to a previous employer's human resources manager, they only people who should be using hand sign gestures are people who are hearing impaired. Since we had a diverse workforce from all over the world, certain hand gestures can mean very different things. To be safe, and to not accidentally offend someone, we were not allowed to use any hand gestures.

Should avoid all communication since different words and phrases mean things in different cultures and even more so different languages

I had to meet with HR to discuss if I was able to fire an employee or just give a corrective action because she had never used feminine products before in her country. I'm sitting in my office trolling on the internet, and I hear a knock on my door. I open the door and this white girl is pale like she is about to pass out. She says there is blood everywhere in the bathroom. I walk over and knock and opened the door to see blood on the floor and sink. My first thought was someone was hurt or had a nose bleed. I turn around and this black girl says she knows what happened. She said see walked in and saw another woman with her leg up on the sink counter washing out her vagina. She didn't say anything at first because she didn't want to snitch, but she saw me there and decided to tell me anyways cause it was nasty.
HR and myself had to interview everyone and we decided to have a female HR representative train this young woman on how to use feminine products.

Yeah, I meant black girl. Apparently she didn't use products because of culture or religion. She quit after the meeting with HR, which was what we wanted anyway.
