PC Principal V: What The Fuck Am I Reading

I was specifically meaning to real work current day politics, but if they're using that as reference in any campaigns they're running I guess that would be difficult.



I try not to pay attention to the media much, but is there actually increased/concentrated effort to remove civilians that are in the country legally or imprison children at the border? I've heard a lot of talk about trying to crack down on "illegals", but that remember seeing statements to that effect from the previous administration. I also thought the separation of that woman and her child at the border did not happen, and that even then, the practices groups were having an issue with were already in place from the previous administration.

Am I'm just being naive?

There's been a significant uptick in deporting legal immigrants who had minor legal issues sometimes decades old, as well as separating and prison-camping illegal immigrant children who would otherwise have family in the US who could care for them pending their legal proceedings.

Like, there's not being a news cycle addict, but the only way you can't know about the immigrant child taking and internment camps is if you are wilfully sticking your head in the sand to anything not local/personal entertainment.

There's been a significant uptick in deporting legal immigrants who had minor legal issues sometimes decades old, as well as separating and prison-camping illegal immigrant children who would otherwise have family in the US who could care for them pending their legal proceedings.

Okay, so they're trying to use past "offences" as ammunition to remove people of legal status.
Wouldn't sending those children to families in the states who are civilians just give a round about way for children to enter illegally?
There definitely appears to be some room for improvement in how those situations are handled.

I mean, I don't go out of my way to view any international news. Any information I get is apparently skewed one way. I'll have to address that. That doesn't really answer my question as to whether this was a pre-existing thing that happened prior to Trump being elected.

Just keep in mind I'm not American. I have no horse in that particular race. If these were policies that were followed when the Democrats were in charge then it wouldn't make much of a difference to me if I was voting.

The policies were in place during Obama, but Obama made an order saying families with children were not to be locked up and instead released to their US families so we arent 1. Separating children from their families and 2. Not keeping children locked behind bars. Trump specifically rescinded this order and let both things happen.

The opposite of this isnt "just let the illegals in". We can always debate and come up with a better plan. Just because Americans dont want to keep kids in cages doesnt mean we want to let all illegal immigrants in. It's a shitty copout and I'm not blaming you, but it's a tired excuse I hear in this country far too much.

They only were permitted to stay with family while their legal case is pending. If the immigration courts decide they don't have legal standing to remain they are deported.

Under Obama, children were only prison-camp'd if they didn't have any family in the country to release them to (because they are at least fed and sheltered there). Trump ramped this up for all kids to punish them to try to discourage other migrants from coming.

This issue has been debated extensively here before because the fact that there are photos of similar detention centers under Obama has gotten thrown out as a "BOTH SIDES" argument. It promptly gets shut down because there are relevant distinctions in Obama and Bush 43 policy that serve as a frequency filter compared to the Trump policy, but that doesn't matter to the whataboutism who bring it up again in another two weeks.
