Ah the heathens are discussing religion again as if their thoughts matter, it's quaint, it's quaint.
Like watching a chimp try to recreate the works of Mozart.

Trump's base, born again Christians, are the most powerful political force in the American anti-democratic movement right now and Fox News has been calling for undemocratic, mildly theocratic changes to society for years now.
Lets not get too high up on that horse when stupid Christians have been working to cut the legs out from under the world's most powerful liberal democracy basically since the threat of communism evaporated.
Basically religion is for retards.
single issue voters in general are terrible for progression of a country. sadly religious people usually vote if they meet 1 check box.. "is he christian/pro-life/anti-lgbt" whatever their shtick might be.
i know people who are atheists and on the other end of the spectrum though, it creates a terrible political climate to be a single issue voter
Voting for one issue or some pro atheism stance specifically?
Christianity is often a toxic force in modern American politics, used to justify gay oppression for example, but that was not the discussion. the discussion was fundamentalist applications of religious texts and even Christians who feign literal interpretations of the Bible do not actually adhere to such. American Christians (and Jews where the Torah overlaps) do not sell their daughters into slavery or refuse to allow a woman to teach / be the boss of males or advocate the death penalty for all homosexuals and adulterers. they even wear multifabric clothes and plant multiple crops in the same field these days.
No multi-fabric clothes was part of the Old Testament, Christians aren't beholden to that. Right? That feels like a Leviticus thing.
Matter of degree on some of that.
I had an instructor that belonged to this weird offshoot church of christ, kept trying to get me to go to church with his family. It was all kinds of bizarre. The women weren't allowed to speak during the service, kept their hair covered, and were on their knees in the pews through most of the sermon. It was honestly disconcerting.
Dunno anyone actually selling their kids here, but I do know of a lot of dubiously set up/arranged marriages.
Oh there are certainly some offshoots still here in the states that are basically cults but it's not as commen and generally stay under the radar until the ATF gets involved
US Christians are 1:1 parity with fundamentalist Muslims
I will accept no other answer
What about the Jews though?
