aye it was Levy. and there is great dispute over whether or not Christians are beholden to Old Testament Law. the Bible is a contradictory enough text one can find passages to support any chosen interpretation but when Christ himself touches on the topic he declares he has not come to abolish the Law but fulfill it and that not a single component of the Law will be put away until the Earth passes away / all the Law is accomplished.

I am of course very glad most Christians favor an interpretation that allows them to invalidate half the Bible and pick and choose the aspects that are harmonious with modern secular morality. I will like Islam considerably more when Muslims find a similar workaround to reject the most odious normative ethics of the Qur'an.

Not so simple. Many pick and choose which parts of the old testament is legit, and which ones are interpretive. Leviticus seems to be the most problematic, and many will pass that one over. Unless, of course, it's about gay people.

Most differences in behavior between religious practitioners can be attributed to SES and national culture. If you take a second generation American Christian and Muslim, you're not going to find much female genital mutilation going on in either population.

If Islam is bad because poor people in the Middle East and Africa are Islamic and their cultures have objectively bad practices that are mildly motivated by the Koran, then I guess they are guilty as charged. You take their kids and put them in a rich liberal democracy, most of the problematic behavior goes away even without converting them all to Christianity.

Islam just isn't causal.
