Ya'll are ok with what's happening because it's towards ideologies you don't agree with. But this could have easily gone the other way. If those CEOs at the top had felt that it was better for their profit margins to be conservative, then my scenario would have been done. And there's nothing to say the pendulum won't swing the other way in the future.

I think that's what we're seeing with political leaders across the world, don't think it can't happen on social media, too.

People would complain, a mass exodus would ensue, and new platforms would be created to serve those communities and both those who support them and those that oppose the decision of facebook/twitter/etc.

I don’t know that any of these individuals that have jumped from Patreon to subscribestar are preaching intolerance.
They seem to be merely looking for an alternative way to fund their brand that isn’t going to be pulled because of patreon’s community watchdog group.

The CEO of Patreon himself said in an interview that what they did to Sargon was not the intent behind the rules outlined in the TOS.


Sorry the CEO interview was before this went down but he specifically stated that the guidelines were just for what is on Patreon. He didn’t make it sound like they would be scrubbing other places or looking at a users entire internet behaviour.

I dont think I insinuated that they were looking at their creators histories for things to ban them for. They just need to produce content on patreon that goes against the guidelines; if they're moving away from patreon then maybe their content isnt supported to begin with. Other platforms can keep those same people on if they want, and most will more than likely, unless it affects site traffic or revenue. I'm assuming all these people are still on Twitter?

It's so strange to complain about this cause this is capitalism at work. These people could even make their own platform, and some have tried, but it never works cause monetizing intolerance is tricky.
