Okada is so 2017. You must mean Tanahashi.
I'll probably try to get around to doing this some time in the next week. There are a ton of matches that definitely feel "top 10 worthy" but won't even get consideration. The G1 Final is almost certainly my top match of the year though.
1. Okada vs. Omega - Dominion
2. Tanhashi vs. Ibushi - G1 final
3. Hiromu Takahashi vs. Taiji Ishimori
4. Ospreay vs. Scurll - Sakura Genesis
5. 6-man ladder match - Takeover: New Orleans
6. Ishii vs. Goto - G1
7. Momo Watanabe vs. Io Shirai - Stardom May 23
8. Briscoes vs Young Bucks vs. SCU - Final Battle
9. Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade 'Cien' Almas - Takeover: Philadelphia
10. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte - Evolution
Had to try to limit it to 1 wrestler otherwise the top 10 was like 4 Omega matches, 3 matches for Okada and Tanahashi, and 2 matches for Ishii and Kota Ibushi. There were so many amazing matches this year. I could easily list another 50 matches that were absolutely worth watching. A few months ago, ZSJ and some dude named A-Kid had a blowaway match in Spain that got put on youtube and blew up. Same with a match between WALTER and Ospreay. There is also a ton of stuff available on tons of streaming services as well. Completely spoiled as a wrestling fan.
Best Male Wrestler: Kenny Omega
Best Female Wrestler: Momo Watanabe (I'm told Tsukasa Fujimoto had a crazy year, but access to Ice Ribbon is difficult)
Best Tag Team: The Young Bucks
Rookie of the Year: Utami Hayashishita
Best Show: Wrestle Kingdom 12

Stardom is running a show on Friday during Wrestlemania weekend. I guess I may be late to Takeover for this.
My buddy who's a WWE guy who will watch the big NJPW shows asked me yesterday what Okada has been up to. I though, getting harassed by a knife pervert for most of the year? Really couldn't think of any standout Okada moments after he lost the belt. And for matches of the year I'm like Vil. I'd have to really sit down and look at all matches throughout the year that were getting big accolades. Takeover NO was absolute bananas and Dream vs. Ciampa was my MOTN which most might disagree with considering War Games and Black vs. Gargano.
And while I know I come across as a WWE main roster hater, I love a lot of the talent. But this year I can't think of one match where I would put it top 10. Only consideration would be like everyone else, Bex vs. Charlotte.
Raw spoilers for next week (New Years Eve), from a new pre-tape segment on tonight’s show:
Spoiler: show
Lmaoooo fucking Lashley took a bowling ball to the dick!
NJPW uploaded Tanahashi/Ospreay vs Omega/Ibushi. Free to watch. Merry Christmas.
Meltzer says Nattie vs Ronda from last night was 100% called in the ring, as they had no time to rehearse before Monday. He believes it was Ronda's first match where this was the case.
Meltzer had a long rambling about the suspected main event of Mania.
Spoiler: show
Oh and Apollo Crews won a Battle Royale @ MSG and is the new #1 contender for the IC title. Edit : NVM it's basically a title shot at the next MSG show.
They wanted Nattie to main event Wrestlemania? ROFL
Edit: J/k I read the whole thing and he meant it was gonna be the women's main event if Roman was gonna be main eventing.
My little brother went to the msg show last night and took a picture with Enzo who apparently was out and about in the nearby comedy club. Dude is the new the Virgil lol.
Yeah supposedly he had a comedy show that was starting after the msg event and was trying to get people to go.
It would seem Joey Janela booked The Necro Butcher for spring break.
