Nakamura put me to sleep, and when I woke up it was probably during the 1st rumble, so I just waited til I could find the show uploaded this morning so I could skip the crap I don't want to watch.
Opening match was great, best thing on the show. Women's rumble was bad. The winner (and I'll just say it not being Charlotte or them doing a Bret/Luger finish was good enough for me) doesn't make it a good match. It makes it not a terrible one. I don't think it needed legends or any of that. It needed people who are actually good, rather than people with a faint pulse, piling up elapsed rumble time. Great idea booking that neverending logjam at the start.
WWE title match, meh. Bork match was acceptable.
Men's rumble was pretty good overall, though it seemed amazing compared to the other one. The Nia shit was stupid other than I guess jokes about how she "did it for the Rock....'s cousin" but I'm not sure it's stupider than giving the 30 spots to comedy acts who won some shitty tournament after all the good people got food poisoning or something.
I'm fine with Rollins winning and the segment to finish the match was good, but I just wasn't feeling that ending, specifically that being the F3. Ziggler in the F3 in 2019, lol. The only scenario where that would have been perfectly fine to me is if he eliminated McIntyre at 4 and then got eliminated immediately after. Braun is so early 2018. Next!\
One thing that I thought was refreshing was eliminations actually happening during the 10 second countdown or 10 seconds after the buzzer, rather than the "ok, everyone just lock up with someone until it's your turn to get beat up by the new guy".
Last year's women's rumble had a better through line of action but that was because of all the returning nostalgia wrestlers keeping everyone guessing who was coming. There weren't any real surprises this year (Kacy Catanzaro and Rhea Ripley were unexpected but not like as if Jazz and Gail Kim showed up), but they made up for it by having a much better closer. Final 15 minutes of the match far better than last year.
Men's rumble was also good, I would have been totally fine with any of the final four winning.
Just watched a video on WWE of a post-RR interview with Ronda, about how she doesn't like Sasha doing the 4 Horsewomen gesture, because to her and her friends, it means something, and to Sasha (and assuming Bailey, Charlotte, and Becky) it just a marketing ploy, because there is no bond.
I think they are just planting the seeds from when Shayna and her friends get called up. Sasha, Becky, Charlotte and Bailey were doing that during their call ups as they trained together in NXT.
My favorite part of the whole documentary was Roman rolling up in a golf cart on Dana Brooke slathering lotion on Sonya Deville’s legs and inner thighs and then deadpan the line “I’ve got serious work to do tonight.” while driving off looking dumbfounded.
