Lifelong appointments are another relic of the past in this country which needs to be reshaped. You don't want someone on the bench whose thinking was shaped decades ago because people live much longer now than when the idea was put forth.

There is obviously more than one way (lifelong appointments) to ensure the integrity of the judiciary branch.

No, it isn't. I mean, I think I get what your frame is here but bear in mind you have to be 35 to be eligible to run for President. That age was set when most people didn't live into their 50s-60s. A lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court was meant to preserve judicial control of the executive branch within generations, not across them.

The very reason we have the problems we have now are because the forefathers lacked foresight to know that we would eventually live long enough to where lack of term limits would be damaging to our democracy. I mean, Washington knew that political parties were divisive. Look at this shit we have now. Now it's not about who's best for the job. It's about stacking the deck in your favor as much as you can.

The GOP right now doesn't give a shit who gets in, they just want someone in. They want someone who can give them a "win" so that they keep their seats and keep their agenda. That's all this is. It's a show.
