So news of the morning relates to Elizabeth Warren releasing a DNA test that shows she had Native American DNA, leading back to Trump's promise to donate $1M to charity of Trump's choice if it did. Trump now claiming he never said it despite video evidence to the contrary.
Metrolink is weird like that. They have some really odd scheduling such as no trains from specific OC stations between 1 and 4pm. Also on housing at least in SoCal...everything being built at least in my city is 5-7 bedroom houses because they seem to be catering to multigenerational families.
Trump claiming he never said things he's been video taped saying is like a daily news headline.
Also the video of Graham blaming the media for "making Donald Trump sound like some kind of kook" when he called Donald a witness Kook 8 months ago is just amazing.

I think it's partially because the freight lines continue to get priority over commuter trains. The freights own the rails after all so scheduling the commuters around them is a pain in the ass. It's also why Amtrak is complete ass over here compared to the Midwest & East Coast. It would be feasible to have a commuter train from LA<>Bakersfield but alas the only option until lol-never-going-to-be-completed high speed rail is a slow bus.
I would gladly fund a massive buyout of the ownership of those rails down the road. Alternatively they could just nationalize it.
The problem right now is that train shipping is still too cost effective to fuck with. I think once we see the automated trucking industry taking a further chunk out of the cost basis it'll shift.
What really sucks and is unfortunate about sharing with BNSF is that maybe once every 3-4 months they end up hitting a pedestrian on the tracks and they shut everything down for 3-8 hrs depending on the severity. If you are on a commuter train you are pretty much screwed trying to get home.
This happened last summer in Chicago on the El - a body was found on the tracks during rush hour at one of the busiest hubs (reference - Belmont/Fullerton stretch of the Brown/Purple/Red line). Everyone had to get off and find an alternate way to work, which for a majority was 5 miles away. Buses were crammed (even with an added fleet), and Ubers were surcharging to 100 bucks. Shit was nuts. This wasn't anything new but it's the first time I've seen it happen in a chokepoint with no alternative paths for trains to take.
Also, train operators owning the infrastructure prevents it from being a burden shifted to taxpayers (maintaining highways.)

this is literally a spy movie plot.
Apparently there are some bad neighborhoods inside the Saudi consulate, stuff like this just happens sometimes.
