I wish my coach had balls to pull that kinda stuff instead of just clap my team to it's own demise

Colts plays was stupid because of their position on the field and time left in the game. Even if they converted, they had a slim chance of getting close enough for a FG in time. And of course if they failed they were putting the Texans close to FG range. He basically threw away the tie for a slim chance at a win and a decent chance for a loss. They probably aren't making the playoffs anyway so maybe the rah rah bs makes it a win.

Titans went for it to try to get a TD as a opposed to kicking the FG. Very different situations. Even if they make the FG, the eagles get the ball with a chance to win it and two minutes left.

I checked to make sure I had it right - 4th and 2 from the eagles 32 with 1:17 left.

Based on everything I'm reading, you can defend LaFleur's decision more because all of the players support it. Even if logic dictates that a tie is better for your playoff odds than a loss, the players don't know how to feel about a tie and essentially view it as a loss. Especially as a rookie head coach on a meh team, there is definitely value to getting the players behind you, even if the decision didn't work out

Moss covered it, but they weren't remotely the same situations. Frank's decision was idiotic and Vrabel's was correct, regardless of outcome.

I think there was 1:19 left when Vrabel would have sent the kicking team out, for a 49-52 ish yard FG. There would have been plenty of time for Wentz to get in FG range, even if he made it.

There is no just excuse, at all, for Frank's decision. Unless I am looking at it incorrectly, weren't they in their own territory?

Vrabel literally just said, after' last week's game, that his team would be aggressive on 4th downs, where it makes sense. You can't say that and then back down the following week, in a situation that guarantees you cannot win the game (best case was a tie, worst case was a loss, unless there was a pick 6).

I agree with Vrabel's decisions. I think my use of the word "more" was confusing - I meant that LaFleur's decision makes more sense than it did originally, given what his players have said about it. Not that it made more sense than Vrabel's decision.

Nobody can predict the future but I’m pretty sure that having a bunch of guys go good job coach now is probably less impactful than a bunch of guys going wow ok life lesson later in the slim chance the tie ended up getting them into the playoffs. I’d take the tie every time.

Idk. I didn’t watch the game live, but gathering from the highlights and post conference comments everyone was stoked and on board with the move. And that Reich would do it again 10 out of 10 times.

I’d rather have that kind of mentality personally as a player.

Yeah basically dumb jocks respond better to "we're going for the win!" than "actually, the percentages dictate that punting for the tie here is preferable"

Although you could argue a good coach would be able to relay that nuance to his players...

Lmao there was AT LEAST 2 off-sides and/or 2 false starts on that single play and the refs didn't call a damn thing.....

His accuracy on the run is insane. And he is throwing darts, on the run, scrambling like 20-25 yards. Not 7 yards. Incredible.
