Good win for the Ducks tonight after falling apart last night. Ducks lose silfverberg to injury after the 2nd period.
That was an exhausting game. Back up was solid though. Out of all the back ups since inauguration, he definitely has the least movement in his game.
Freddie Anderson day to day for the Leafs. Good thing they have so much goaltending depth and won’t have to make an emergency call up to their ECHL affiliate to fill the spot
They actually had to call someone up from ECHL lol
Justin Schultz out 4 months
Awesome. Wings have given up 14 goals in the last 5 periods. I didn't have high hopes for this season anyway, but this start is ridiculous.
Perds up 1 against MIN late in the third. Solid start to the season thus far.
'da Perds! 5-1-0
Leafs win 5 straight, Sparks doesn't look like hot garbage, Matthews becomes the 5th player in history to have multiple points in each of his team's first 7 games of the season.
Our powerplay should be getting more attention, really. It's unfair to other teams.
Freddy also starting on Thursday against the Penguins so we'll see how serious that knee injury actually was I guess.
I can think of several equal or better PPs tbh
PIT, WSH, TB, WPG
TOR is good but man, you would think they are the greatest team in the history of the NHL the way some Leafs fans are going. Let's at least get to the All-Star break before we start talking about that stuff.
Leafs have the best PP% in the league right now (over 47%) and frankly I don't think any of the teams mentioned have two PP units as strong as the Leafs'.
God forbid the fans of a team that hasn't won anything since before most of their parents were born get excited over a promising start with some goofy stats. You can't tell me 16 points in 7 games for Auston Matthews isn't incredible. You can't tell me that Morgan Rielly being second in league scoring with 13 points in 7 games isn't incredible. You can't tell me that 4 of the top 5 Points Leaders being Maples Leafs (Matthews Marner Rielly Tavares) isn't hilarious.
Will Matthews keep shooting at 46%? No. Will the Leafs ever lose again? Probably. Is this team very good? Yes. Have they won anything yet? No. Are they real exciting to watch anyway? Yes. If you were ever under the delusion that the Leafs weren't the biggest team in the league I don't know what to tell you, but the fact that fans are excited about a team that has scored 9 more goals than the next closest team should really not surprise you. Five minutes of the Leafs not sucking and all the fans are already unbearable? Give me a break.
We've been over this, but its not just the fans. You can watch a hockey game NOT involving Toronto on TSN or SN, and you'll still hear the names Matthews and Tavares for some fucked up reason.
Leafs are north of 3.00GAA, they have the most games played. I await for the eventual PDO regression and the fans complaining about how the D and goaltending situation sucks especially with Andersen out for the short term.
Also Kings are off to their slow start of the season like clockwork. I'll wait til start of December to see if the rookies step up on the blue line and Quick gets healthy.
