Democrats definitely fucked up, but this sort of mentality of "if they really wanted to do it when it wasn't politically expedient they would have" is exactly why things like this happen. Stomping your feet like a child because you don't understand how vital political processes are and why sometimes slow progress beats no progress followed by refusing to vote for a party that has more of your interests at heart than not because of one issue is childish and counterproductive almost every time.
