No, it won't. It may leave a parent's custody real quick but it doesn't get adopted as quick as you'd think.

How quick are you thinking this happens? Days? Months is not as common as you think.

I mean, does it not work where people are on a waiting list, and if per se a newborn were to be put up for adoption they'd want to get that child settled in with a family quickly?

I'm not familiar with the adoption process but I would hope that a newborn wouldn't be left in an orphanage for a long period of time...but I'm assuming the reality is far different.

Then do tell, who ARE you advocating for when you you reply to my comments with:
no room for anything in between?
I'll ask again, who is in-between "I don't like abortion but I won't stop you from getting one" and "I don't like abortion so you can't have one". I can't help but notice that you still haven't answered that question. Literally who would fit in the "room for anything inbetween"?

How is he not explicitly stating it? This feels like explicit to me.

Maybe y'all need an adoption thread because it has nothing to do with the right to have an abortions.

    Even bigger galaxy brain take:

This is a maximalist leaked draft that is going to be watered down slightly to a functionally equivalent but nominally-Roe-preserving alternative. Liberals will be pissed that Roe is functionally overturned. Moderates will read that Roe was saved and will find liberals pointing out reality annoying because Roe isn't really overturned and hey it's better than we thought a few months ago. Conservatives will be slightly unhappy but still have Roe as a boogeyman.

    Checkmate, liberals

Is it sad that I would consider this to be a "good end"? Considering the alternative, and considering the hell that has been the last 3 years, I'll take some "not actually the worst possible outcome" news.

There exist many anti-abortion groups that are in favor of and support many of those programs, believe it or not. The GOP, obviously, does not... but they are savvy enough to recognize that being the anti-abortion party automatically gets them those votes, no matter the rest of their platform, as it tends to be #1 issue with those people and they will vote accordingly no matter what.

It's really not, though. Since Casey things have been slipping and now there are single digit abortion providers in red states. Bringing that single digit down to 0 isn't going to take a formal overturning of Roe.

Liberals will be correct, but responses like this one will allow people to stay home in November.

If you just show up to an adoption agency with a newborn yeah could take months maybe (which is still quick). If you plan while pregnant you can have the adoptive parents take the baby home from the hospital. Point is there's plenty of willing adoptive parents for newborns, that's not a limiting factor for "put your baby up for adoption instead of aborting it"

There really isn't a functional difference between "many" and "all" at this point. And even if you support having those programs but vote for people who aren't pushing them, that's still maximum hypocritical. Frankly, unless said programs get put in place FIRST, it's hypocritical. The end result is the exact same: Children being born without support to a life of poverty and abuse. You don't get to go "This child must be born" but then also say "But fuck em when they're out of the womb". There is no middle ground where you aren't a massive hypocrite.

It is possible to believe that abortion is murder and that there should be a robust safety net to care for every child, the likes of which would put Europe to shame. Our political system forces these people to make a very difficult choice: prevent those childrens murders or prevent their suffering after birth. Many of these groups are charitable organizations that put their own money where their mouth is and step in to do the latter themselves. I cannot agree that these people are hypocrites; they see reality as it is and do the best that they can to reach both goals. Demonizing them and lumping them in with the idiots over in reddit is disingenuous and just contributes to the polarization that's tearing apart our society.

To be clear, I am as pro-choice as they come, but abortion rights are not a fight between good and evil, right and wrong. Reducing it to yet another binary political choice is why we are where we are as a society.

The issue is the people who aren't. Make your own life decisions. once people decide they need to make decisions for other people; that's the issue.

The same way I won't tell someone they need to get an abortion they shouldn't tell someone else that they need to have a child they don't want to have

i'm not advocating for anyone really, mainly just trying to get folks to stop viewing everyone as black/white, good/evil when obviously people are on a spectrum and have a wide variety of views on everything, at least we made it from pro lifers are subhuman scum to only the ones that vote, feels like progress

There's a few Republicans who want a proper child safety net like Mitt Romney but most use "welfare" as a way to punish parents (often single mothers) for not behaving in the way they prefer.

It's not, but you get his point.
