Day is our Tucker Carlson "Ohhh come on guuuuuuuys, i'm just asking questions!! I'm not serioussssss! I'm just joshing around with you."
I also have issues with Day's posts much of the time but you guys seriously ascribe tones and messaging to him that are not there a lot.

day should antagonize you lot, you should be out there burnin down pro-lifers businesses and homes and lowering the cost of my plan b
Fetus is just what it scientifically is. Wanted fetuses become children (tiny human beings) down the line (and fwiw I personally believe that this happens well before the fetus is out of the womb).
Those who suffer miscarriages are mourning potential, not actuality though -- the potential baby that fetus would have become. Many women who get abortions mourn that potential baby as well. But people who get rid of a pregnancy without regret do not have grief because that potentiality never existed; that fetus was never ever going to develop into a child.
So yes it is a fetus, but the fact that the mother/couple wanted that child instantly imbued it with something more that a plain fetus never had. This why calling it just a fetus is tactless and feels wrong; not because it's a baby (it might be, but usually not), but because it ignores completely what they actually lost.
i have to wonder if you guys really think i dont understand what a fetus is scientifically
and your last sentence was basically my whole point. people sit on here all day edgelording about parasitic fetus and 'its technically a fetus' but dont take that line of thought under different circumstances because they suddenly understand what someone is actually losing
I mean a fetus is a human, i just don't think somenoe should be forced to incubate one if they don't want to. If you can extract it and grow it artificially? go for it. Until then, it's not it's own being until it can survive w/o one specific person
But it shouldn't matter cause no one is forcing them to abort their own child.
Unless they just want to like...steal someone else's unborn child?

As usual you lack a nuanced approach to anything. Yeah, someone who wanted to be pregnant will mourn the loss of the fetus because what they lost was something more than that.
That has nothing to do with the topic of abortions and you can't bring that emotion into the topic of a woman's body being forced to incubate something if she doesn't want it. If she doesn't want it, all those emotions have no meaning here.
I'm not sure I'm the one lacking nuance in most conversations on these forums tbh
I have never once advocated for forcing a woman to carry to term, I don't know why you keep saying that.
When we talk about abortion rights we talk about fetuses because that's the extent of what most is these pregnancies are (or would be if not for this decision).
So to say that in another context we wouldn't call then fetuses or parasites misses the point.

I disagree that it misses the point. Of course you talk about fetus because that is medically and technically what it is, but it is also a potential living human being, which obviously the "just a fetus" crowd understands when it comes to miscarriages etc but that same emotional understanding of what we are really talking about aborting goes out the window in almost every abortion discussion. It just seems awfully convenient and disingenuous to me to pretend everything around fetus and abortion is so sterile in your mind when you don't actually feel that way.
To be fair, the argument was that the miscarriage was due to meth use, not just that she had a miscarriage alone.

I actually personally believe life starts at conception and that abortion is an ending of a life. But I think that modern conception of liberty and bodily autonomy should be an absolute bar on any personal obligation for a woman to maintain a pregnancy. Absent casual factors, no one is legally obligated to even the most minor inconvenience to save another person's life. (And before some smart ass says that a woman having sex is the cause of the pregnancy, I'm talking about causing injury or risk obligates one to mitigate that injury and risk; creating a life is different from being the cause of a danger to another's life)

I don't believe God ensouls the fetus until it takes its first breath outside the womb.
