I think perma-banning anyone in general is dumb as shit. It’s an option that should be saved only for the truly despicable posters like Blubb who was a legit sociopath and Mazmaz who tried to insinuate BG instigated hey’s death.

Having said that, banning Day from this section is just as dumb. There’s a reason we used to have so many conservative voices on here that have all slowly disappeared throughout the years. I’d rather the mods just be honest and rename the section a glorified circle jerk.

hey's suicide was because of her personal struggles, not because of BG. I believe Maz's argument was basically that we all pushed her to suicide by ridiculing her transgender status, which was bullshit.

I have no opinion on the ban, but I can't get behind this take. It's pretty goddamn left 'round here but there's certainly different flavors. Archi approaches liberalism differently than Gred who approaches liberalism differently than Birth who approaches liberalism while self-identifying differently than the latter two, etc. There's a homogeneity at the core, sure, but the surface is full of nuance and thoughtfulness. Nevermind that one of the most respected contributors of the sub is an unapologetic (fiscal?) conservative.

Blubb got banned for saying something really stupid about touching kids that triggered all the people who have kids. Groggle got smacked for calling Zealot a duplicitous jew. No one has been banned for just having right wing opinions, no matter how stupid. Not heavenscloud, not zoner, not Egon. If they get tired of having to defend their shit well, that can't be fixed when the ideological slant is what it is.

I am against lowering the standards for posting because the right feels outnumbered here. If you want to talk politics, be prepared to actually argue something. Maroot and AG are more than capable of doing it. The left engages in tons of inner-fighting and criticism.

If Day cut the shit and actually put some good faith into arguing instead of his low effort trolling, I wouldn't care. But he's just lowering the quality of the discussion with shitposting some off-handed both sides comment. This isn't spam.

Listen, we've all said a lot of things today. We've shared our feelings. We've come together as a community to address our needs.

I think we've moved forward. I think we should continue to open up dialogue and connect on a deep and more personal level as a group.

I feel like Day is a very necessary part of that moving forward. I would like to see him brought back to Poopdeck and allowed to once again contribute to our amazing dynamic.
