Rox have been missing Harden or Paul for most of the season, that said their defense looks p fuckin bad which maybe was to be expected with Bzdelik retiring and Ariza/Mbah a Moute leaving. they'll still win a ton of games when their stars come back but it was their defense not their offense that gave GS fits and i don't see them replicating that kind of challenge again this year.

and Spurs are Spursing. Kawhi is much better than DeRozan but DeRozan actually playing is much better than Kawhi not playing. who knew.

ddr averaging 7.3 assists per game is wonderful. his EFG/TS must be really strong too, considering he's shooting 52% on raw FG's at 20 shots a game

also, don't know what morey was thinking replacing ariza/luc with carmelo. there wasn't any chance they'd remotely have the same defense doing that. getting jimmy butler would substantially change that but that'll come at a high price. and carmelo will not be remotely happy being the 4th option.

DeRozan deserves a ton of credit from evolving from an empty iso-scorer to an offensive playmaker that can shoot 3s. He used to be super overrated.

I don't know if his defense has improved but he's showing the extent of his playmaking abilities this year, racking up assists

Naw I think the "no d"-antoni thing was always a misnomer, his suns teams always played at a super fast pace so their points allowed were inflated

I wouldn't argue that he's a defensive mastermind though, clearly hurts from losing that assistant

I think Melo was just a flier. They hope(d) his buddy CP3 would be able to get him to accept an olympic-melo role

agree, people used to think he was some awful defensive coach because of the pace the suns played with. but in those years people didn't accept ortg/drtg stats the way they do now.

People have more accepting of advanced stats for awhile and it still doesn't change the fact that D'Antoni teams have horrible defense outside of last year. Sure a big factor is the generally high pace, but his teams will rarely pass any kind of eye test if you watched the games.

This game is trash and I've only watched about 10 minutes of it. Pistons missing so many free throws. Joel getting 17 free throws in the first half. Stanley Johnson missing a point blank layup. Blake is almost 100% of the Pistons offense.
