pretty meh, hate Rivers even if he's a decentish score first point. last thing we need is another guy chasing his own shot. Oubre is potentially nice, so uneven tho and gotta prove he can shoot.

alright I gotta say he never averaged 20 points, he never averaged 5 assists or 5 rebounds, he spent the vast majority of his career as the 3rd option on offense behind Duncan and Parker, and his defense was good but never lockdown.

I do love Manu but this is crazy talk. Harden is a 30-10 #1 option who was a Chris Paul ankle from probably leading his team to a title and Ginobes was a 6th man who never led an NBA team period. best 6th man ever sure but come on

Yeah I don't get it from the Sun's viewpoint. Seems like Ariza is more useful on-court than both of those guys right now and Oubre is a free agent after this year anyway. I'd rather have someone with more cheap team control or just a draft pick

He had the potential and talent to easily hang with those guys. The Spurs would not have 3 of those rings without Manu.

yeah but james harden is awful to watch play basketball.

in all seriousness, manu being the 3rd option on that particular team had a lot more to do with playing with tim duncan and how pop wanted him to play his role. then at some point tony parker perfected his teardrop and became an absolute monster penetrating the interior so again, manu's role was sublimated. i do think if manu were asked to be the focal point he could have put up mvp-type numbers at points during his career.

also, while i'm not super one to harp on a guy not being so great in the playoffs (maybe so i can just making excuses for clayton kershaw's own troubles) i do think it should at least be something of a factor. it's hard for me to trust someone who underperforms in the playoffs relative to his RS ability, plays a style that is great for busting up on bad teams and doesn't do as well when game-planned for (i'll never forget how well jj redick used to defend him), and is mostly useless on the defensive side of the ball.
