and throw away another year of 35 year old LeBron with no guarantee they don't wind up staring longingly at another PG tear up the league? ok Magic.

not to read into any one thing too much but Bron is already on pace to play the second fewest games of his career because of the groin injury. the man is a miracle but age is merciless, and sometimes it can come all at once as with Kobe. if the Lakers want to win a ring with Bron they don't have the luxury of punting multiple years. and if they trade for someone like AD their odds of signing someone like Kawhi or KD or Klay skyrocket. if they rock the same roster that might miss the playoffs this year? not so much.

will say all the Lakers stans that said it was actually a good thing they didn't sign George have gone quiet since he roared to 28-8-4 with all-NBA defense.

Lakers want to get three by maxing either Kawhi or AD and fitting Klay, Kemba, or Boogie in alongside that.

Yeah but what else is he going to say?

That is really the only move at this point. Lakers have been hurt badly by none of the young guys ascending to stronger value. All they can do is bid as much as they're comfortable and then hope he comes to them anyway if they're outbid.

While it might technically be bad for the league, the current state of player movement is fascinating.

losing Shamet hurts, he gave them real solid perimeter shooting which the team needs, Muscala v Scott is a wash, Boban does what he does in the 5-10 mpg he can do it, but woahhhhhhhhh mamaaaaaa is Tobias a huge upgrade at the 3/4. that starting 5 is meannn.

mike scott was giving clips some really good glue guy minutes earlier in the year. i'd guess he's gonna be more impact than muscala. a couple really nice players heading to philadelphia, and boban can give them some really strong monkey wrench minutes, if they know how to use him. that guy turns games all by himself when used correctly.

meanwhile, clips are not so quietly gearing up to pursue AD and later kawhi. will it happen? who knows. tomorrow's gonna be nuts though. don't see how gallo or pb won't be traded by the deadline. if we're lucky we'll get assets for lou williams also, putting us at 4-5-ish possible first rounders available for an AD trade.

i love it for the Clipps. p sure Tobias was a goner and they get a really good rookie shooter in Shamet, a late Philly 1st rounder, and a potentially juicy unprotected Miami 1st rounder for the 30 remaining games he was going to give them. and in the process they make the Sixers considerably better, making it considerably harder for Toronto to win the East, making it considerably more likely Kawhi bails for the West Coast. 4. d.

they got the cap space to outright sign 2 maxes and a couple more assets to try and trade for a 3rd star. this offseason is going to be bonkers.

rare trade where both teams got exactly what they needed to do what they're aiming to do.

ah shit and the Boston-owned Clipps 2019 first rounder is top 14 protected so if (when) they fall out of the playoffs they get it back. this Jerry West kid is p sharp eh.

also, Boston gets extra screwed in the process if the Kings make the playoffs. sac keeps their pick and Boston loses it if it's not lottery. my hope is they trade for Gallo and somehow Bradley and make that last spot over the Lakers

Thon Maker to the Pistons. Stanley Johnson to the Bucks. Pistons sub says good deal for both teams. Whenever I'd watch the Bucks I thought Thon was decent off the bench.

Thon had requested a trade a couple days ago, seems like the Bucks were eager to oblige.

Giannis just put up 43 points in 21 shots. 17-21 from the field.

Pop managing loads again. He sat LMA and Derozen for tonight's ESPN game. Spurs will stay pesky all night.

I don't care if it was against the Washington Generals, it's 17 for 21! Including 3 for 3 from 3!

He's the only player this year with at least 21 shot attempts in a game and made at least 75% of them.

38th game in NBA history with 21+ attempts and 81%+ shooting.

And the only game in NBA history with 21+, 81%+, and 3 made 3 pointers.

    oh fuck

Bucks traded away Thon Maker yesterday, and everyone thought "huh, he's a projectible piece who has some current value, why'd they do that?"

Well, they just traded Stanley Johnson, who they received in that trade, along with Jason Smith for Nikola Mirotic. Another big who can shoot and not clog lanes for Giannis. Fucking sick.
