defense may be a little hard capped with Ilyasova/Lopez/etc getting major minutes but i think these Bucks are gonna score a lot of points and could challenge Philly for the 3-seed, Giannis strong dark-horse MVP candidate.
this is the only early-season take i will ever quote of myself but p ppppp pppppppp good for watching two quarters of basketball

    Actually I regret everything.

Pretty sure a mod has to change the title tho, I don't have that kind of power.

At least I didn't have Melo winning a title in all caps in my OP.

I'm glad the season is finally here, but its going to be rough watching the Spurs. I've lowered my usual expectations so I can be more obnoxious when the Spurs are good.

Bucks are a historically good (regular season) team. Lol. Probably underrated

Giannis stands alone in NBA history.

jason kidd should absolutely be embarrassed. for someone who was as much of a basketball prodigy as he was, how can you not know the power of putting shooters around a guy like giannis?

i hope the bucks do well. i can't imagine they dole out that big money to middleton, as good as he is. also, still hate doc rivers for not picking him up when he was still on the junk pile. would have been absolutely perfect for the cp3/blake/jordan teams.

I know you love your cherry picked stats but like come on fam.

Giannis is amazing but he's barely reaching half of the win share #s Kareem, Jordan, Mikan, or Wilt had year over year (yes I know the season isn't over yet)

Ain't none of them dudes ever put up 26/12/5.3 (only Oscar Robertson has done that, once), and Giannis is at 27/12.6/5.9.

Jordan only had one 8 rebound-per-game season in his career. Mikan never had a 4 assist-per-game season. I'm talking about doing it all, the whole shebang here. The complete package. The next evolution.

If you wanna talk win shares, Kareen led the NBA in WS/48 9 times in his career. Only 3 of those times did he have a higher WS/48 than Giannis does this season, back in 70-73.

sure but you don't need to put all kinds of meticulous qualifiers and then present it in such a manner to show how good giannis is.

WC is actually so nuts right now.

okc lost and portland lost to SA. there's so little separation from basically the 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6, etc. all the way down to the 8th seed. haven't seen some of the other team's remaining schedules, but 7th seed utah has the most cupcake schedule i've ever seen to close out the season. i can easily see portland/okc dropping down to lower seeding with utah/SA moving into the upper part.

Damn, the Bucks without Brogdon (out 6-8 weeks with plantar fascia tear) lost to the 76ers by 5, even though GIANNIS put up a career high 52/16/7.

Brogdon's injury means he's done for the regular season, which clinches him as the only player in the NBA with a 50/40/90 season. (51/43/93 actually)

Steve Nash and Steve Kerr are the only two players in NBA history to play at least half a season and put up a better triple-slash.

fortunately for him, bucks should be good enough to win their first round matchup and have him available in the second, at the latest

that's a really bad loss for Milwaukee, he was prolly their 2nd best scorer, and they went with Mirotic in the starting lineup which keeps Giannis surrounded by shooters but really changes their defensive identity by making them a fucking gigantic (and slow) lineup. hopefully he gets back asap, Bucks are lucky their first round matchup should be cakey against a sub .500 team.

Yeah, Mirotic going 1 for 7 definitely didn't help them today.

well he'll shoot a lot better than that but the real issue will be on defense, Lopez and Bledsoe continue to man either end but Giannis or Mirotic have to downsize and guard a 3 and Kris has to downsize and chase a 2 around. they're all good to very good defenders but a lot of them are gonna be playing out of position and having to keep up with smaller faster players.

even today you saw Mirotic + Middleton do mostly fine on Tobias Harris but get hopelessly lost when one of them had to try and follow Reddick's offball movement and neither had much success stopping Jimmy from penetrating at will.

Embiid beasted of course but that is what it is, no one on Milwaukee's roster can match up with him.

i'd look at slotting in Snell / Connaughton / Hill i don't like the supersized lineup at all

Connaughton gets most of the minutes of that trio but they might like him running the second unit.

Where's Delly when you need him?
