a damn shame too since Detroit was playing so well in the second half of the season and the Bucks are a little vulnerable with Brogdon out and Mirotic coming back from injury. not talented enough to win but a supernova Blake coulda made it a fun series.

Even with a fully healthy Blake I couldn't see the series as ending up any better then a gentleman's sweep for the Bucks.

did you watch a Detroit game since the ASB? Drummond had the best stretch of his career, and Kennard came alive as a double-digits sharpshooter giving them some desperately needed spacing. they gelled, especially offensively, in a way they hadn't before. and the Bucks are not the Bucks without Brogdon, Bledsoe gets a lot of love but i'd say Malcolm is their third best player.

you can see how the gap closed here, though interestingly it's been the Bucks defense more than their offense which has come down to earth even as Detroit's offense got (relatively) supercharged.

also shows how juiced up the Jazz offense got and how much harder Houston is playing on D. both love and hate that matchup think the two best non-Golden State teams in the West are facing each other in the first round.

The issue is more of the severe matchup problem the Bucks represent for the Pistons, as evidenced by the Bucks sweeping the season series. Drummond just can't really guard someone with the speed and handles of Giannis (or even Embiid), and has been shown time and again this year, when Drummond has issues in the paint the Pistons D collapses.

You're not wrong. And it doesn't help when Drummond starts pouting. I'm glad they are getting some playoff experience, mainly for the young crew. You've got Kennard, Maker, and Brown all age 22 as well with Svi at 21. They aren't lighting the world on fire right this minute, but they have potential. And after the 19-20 season a lot of bad contracts will expire (STILL paying Josh Smith). This season has been fun to watch even with the ups and downs. There is a lot to be excited for in the future and I'm hoping Casey can develop these players. I'll tell you this, both Drummond and Reggie J have been tons better this year vs last season and that's because of Blake's leadership and I do believe Casey's work as well.

all the regular season games took place back in December and January

you're right that Giannis is a matchup nightmare for them (for everyone no) and i said above the Pistons do not have the talent to win the series even with the Bucks injured and Blake 100, but i still think people haven't been paying attention to Detroit's improvement in the second half of the year and that they would have been one of the liver dogs out East. just a shame Blake is injured and that injury also kept them from seeding higher.

Don't know why the training staff would have issue with it, isn't popcorn pretty good as a snack? I mean if he overloads it with salt and butter, but I hear a lot of NBA players are doing sugar-less coffee cut with just milk or butter.

A few minutes later Johnson got sent to the locker room. Sixers and Embiid are gonna get roasted for this, and rightfully so.

Philly just lost homecourt as their bench got massacred by Brooklyn's. Simmons and Reddick got locked up.

Have to think they had a good idea this would happen and it contributed to moving on from Joerger. It's going to be hilarious when Luke kills it with the Kings. Revenge for 2002!

I like the Sixers but holy fuck the drama if they lose this series after going all in on the season will be incredible. Probably just overreacting after one game, but man did Ben Simmons look like shit. Also Tobias Harris with 4 points in 40 minutes..

Sixers were +3 in the 41 minutes Tobias played, -12 in the 7 minutes he didn't. it ain't on him. he was moving the ball and rebounding and defending even as Butler and Embiid were chucking.

yeah it's nuts, season high in the first half. Lowry is already in Toronto playoff gear i guess he's missing everything and getting fucking torched.

and the Raps immediately go on a 22-2 run behind Kawhi not going out like that ay

he and Gasol are the difference this year from the Lowry/DeRozan teams. dudes get better not worse in big moments. Siakam and Danny getting gritty is also a nice change from the finesse squads of years past.

I was wholly expecting the refs to give MCW a tech there.
