I am admittedly too lazy to look, but I believe those seasons you're talking about is when they shortened the 3 point line for a few seasons.

2 of them are 1 of them isn't. if you look at his 3% the stronger correlation is to attempts per game not to the years they shortened it. he had another year at 35% on 2.9 APG on the unshortened line, a year of 24% on 1.5 APG on the shortened line etc.

the biggest consistent volume he ever shot was during a 19 game playoff run where he was at 4 APG hitting them at 39%. unshortened line.

Sure are a lot of mad people at the clear fact that Kawhi is a much better 3 point shooter (both by rate and volume) than Jordan.

It is kinda fun to imagine what Jordan's numbers would have looked like if he had developed a three point shot. If it was a necessary part of his game (which it most definitely was not at the time) you know damn sure his competitive streak would have pushed him to doing it, and would have sent his ppg numbers even higher.

Olynyk is also a better 3 point shooter than Jordan, both in volume and rate.

If MJ was a better player he would have realized 3 points are better than 2

or actually he's such a good player that he knew this, but also knew he didn't have the range, so he didn't shoot them much

he had the range. but triangle offense wasn't predicated on dropping tons of 3's for one thing, and jordan was an absolute master of the mid range.

nba was weird back then, too. lanes are so clogged and teams really didn't like the 3 ball that much. it was so much more of a "specialist" thing.
