The only real rebuttal I have for this is that the rest of the developed world doesn't have this kind of issue for the most part. The vast majority of all major multinational corporations are in the US and China. That doesn't mean their system wouldn't work; in fact it would probably work better than ours, but I just think it's slightly facetious for a small country with a completely different set of circumstances to be instructing the US on tax policy.

Nothing you say gives a reason for why having corporations housed in our nation means we can't have outcomes similar to other developed nations. We should be making money, be enriched, by these corporations calling our nation home. We shouldn't be giving up things like public works and national healthcare because we want to make sure McDonalds doesnt move its HQ to Ireland.

Well we have one big cost that most of those nations go pretty light on... which certainly needs cuts but not as light as them.


Some things also somehow seem to cost a lot more here for some reason... like look at public train proposals... we literally decades behind other countries and yet somehow it still costs an arm and leg which often gets them doa. Like how the fuck did we go way over budget and over schedule building a pretty simple oldschool train that goes about the speed of highway traffic near me (and still not done) when other countries off building futuristic floating trains going hundreds of mph

Yeah but I mean if they're already paying effective tax rate X while being told they should be paying Y, isn't it in everyone's best interests to just close the loopholes and bring their assigned tax rate down to X? They pay the same, while we actually benefit from their revenue

Some people have great benefit from/use more loopholes/exemption than others. I'd imagine those that do would are happy the way things are

The Weeds did a podcast on this very thing. The short answer is its complicated and no one wants to use what other countries have learned cause unions, jobs, and 'Murika.

You know what's extra funny about that is some of it is stuff they learned from us in the first place. Fuck half the cool new nuclear plant designs coming out are literally stuff we were coming up with back in the 60s and then didn't really do anything with (granted some of it wasn't as easily done/cost effective with the technology at the time)

I'm using the word to describe the entire device sitting inside the fat ps3 that keeps the device running, isnt really necessary for the thing to work but you keep it around cause it enables the really cool feature you like for this specific version of the democracy you like because it does cool things like move wealth from the..wait what was I talking about again?

My dad took my backwards ps3 with him on a long vacation for movies and games. I was working at the time so I didnt go, but it returned with the board bend by the power button and broken, and the hdmi port in the back is busted. Idk if itll ever be fixable, but I still have it to this day just in case.

What I have heard is that the GOP also promoted absentee/early voting this year.

This would be great if true. Typically they are the road blocks to more convenient voting.
