FYI if you guys ever do Google products like nest/yale/homes etc make sure you do them on a separate, main account created for the sole purpose of running your home and subscriptions.

Removing/changing/migrating my old main personal account to the new one is a nightmare. There's no easy way to do it, you can't just drop or change ownership. I had to remove all devices, leave the home on all accounts, remove the home, then re-add the devices some of which (the fucking Yale lock) require removing half the device from the door.

I've been wondering how good are the doorbells/locks? I don't have a house yet (and with my new car may be awhile longer than I wanted unless I look into investment) but one thing I've been wondering about is package deliveries and thought that would be a good way to be sure nobody tries to steal packages.

Ring Doorbells are fine. I was able to see a package snatcher once and then reported it to Amazon. They went ahead and refunded me without the video footage because the value of the shipment was like $25.

So carpet question. Other than being a personal bane of mine is it possible to fix this? If you look the right said looks far more worn than the left.

But seriously, you can try a deep cleaning vacuum but it looks pretty stiff and ruined.

Did you try a wet vac and then lightly rake/comb it over so that it looks even?

Haven't tried a wet vac yet. I can try wetting it down tomorrow since I'm working from home until further notice because of the mask madate. Funny enough that's how I noticed it. Was rearranging stuff in my other room to set up a home office (again) and noticed that.

I wouldn't be surprised if the property managers simply re-carpet new tenants each time because that carpeting looks cheap. I've rented a few places that used similar nap carpeting and it's not great. Maybe call up the managers office and ask if their maintenance has recommendations for carpet cleaning.

It's an apartment? Eh, I wouldn't try too hard lol. You can rent a rug doctor from Walmart or Home Depot for under $50, if that doesn't fix it then it's ruined and needs to be replaced, by someone other than you preferably.

Who would install a chimney cap? Chimney sweeps or would I need to hire someone who does masonry?

It's a double flu chimney (2 fireplaces, 2 separate exits) but both are contained in a single chimney column thats made of brick. We wanted to have it inspected and properly cleaned in the down season so it would be cheaper.

You really need to ask. Some chimney places do installations of inserts and repairs, others are simply chimney sweeps.

Most HVAC companies should be able to do it for you also, is it a masonry chimney or sheet metal ducting?

I suppose that's fair. I try to be a good tenant but then I remember I had the cops on people last week so I can't be doing that bad
