Why the hell are there no moderately priced non builder grade wall vent registers?
Everything is either 10 buck white aluminum or 80+ dollar brushed metal.
What is so hard about a decent 30$ non white vent register that doesn't look hideous?
You looking for 4 x 10’s? cause I dunno how your Home Depots are but the Canadian ones have like 15-20+ 30ish dollar options that range from plastic to different types of metal, some with the wood finish as well
Some attractive options here in the $50-$60 range, depending on your tastes and size required: https://ventcoversunlimited.com/deco...g-vent-covers/
14x6. Which in itself seems like a tougher task to find since thats not standard by any means.
And yeah, the 50-60 range is my point. That just seems so expensive for the product, but $30 seems to be the floor for anything that isnt builder grade. I don't get it.
Three are going on walls and one return air dampener near the ceiling in my media room, but its becoming a $200 prospect just for vents.
Might be time to finally replace my HVAC system. Not looking forward to this.
More upfront cost, but 100% recommend heat pump + gas furnace for wintertime backup. Heat pump only will have you regretting the choice when it goes below freezing, and you're in the Virginia/DC area IIRC, so that's the norm for you all.
Zealot needs to see this.
Digging the splash of color. Are those acoustic tiles or just some wall boards?
I never said my area wasn't still a work in progress.

Its quarter inch thick MDF separated by a quarter inch gap and then nailed into place. The MDF was chosen as both a compromise for acoustic insulation vs plywood and as a more finished material than OSB in spite of the cost. Didn't have to do anything to the MDF other than cut the lengths, miter when needed, and then sand some edges around the corners/outlets to have it look cleaner.
The little color splash I picked to add something other than the SNES grey tones, so I went with both the JP and NA controller buttons.
The room does need better doors on either end. Previous owner cut them really short and they both have 2-3 inch gaps up against the floor. Plan to buy 2 new doors, fill with foam, and then cover with MDF to match the existing pattern.
Man we have almost the exact base colors for our family room and accent wall with tv/fireplace.
Repose gray with Iron Ore as the accent wall.
