Tried watching the 2nd episode but the captains daughter is insufferable and art style is not my cup of tea. If its actually good though I guess I'll deal with it...

Yeah that ending is great, I really wonder what they would do with a Season 2 with how Season 1 ended. The characters really do grow on you.

The show definitely improved as time went on although I still think it's bullshit that Mariner gets away with the crap that she does. Captain Mom having more of Mariner's personality than expected was theoretically a nice touch, but in practice it comes off as contrived bullshit to let Mariner get away with being Mariner now that Boyle isn't around to cover up for her or reign her in.
Everyone having phasers in the cafeteria actually does make sense because i'm told that this was in the middle of the cardassian war and before that the Borg had almost taken Earth. It makes sense that everyone in starfleet is on a hair trigger around then.

There was an Episode in TNG, "Yesterday's Enterprise", where the Timeline got fucked by a ship from years ago coming into the future. To try and keep a long winded story short, they were in War-times and had a phaser on them at all times because of it. Its reasonable to assume if this show takes place in "War times", Phasers would be required for all personnel at all times. You have the Nerd-rage seal of approval.

Well if Riker is CO of the Titan the earliest this show is happening is 2379 which is a decade after the cardassian war, it's more around the same time as Star Trek Nemesis.

I give this show far more of a pass on any kind of continuity errors given its a comedy show, it's ok to fudge the details compared to the more serious shows. And in general this show felt more accurate in how it was portraying the nature of the Star Trek universe, even if it was showing something that way explicitly to further a joke (the captain constantly trying to do things the bright and shiny Starfleet Way)

The show wasn't anything spectacular but I definitely enjoyed it. Will definitely watch new seasons as they come
