I don't think Lost is a good example because it's an original creation with no source material to draw on. And I think it's disingenuous to say easter eggs are allowed in movies but not in Loki just because it's a TV show. Like the Thanos copter and Throg. Are those going to go anywhere? No. But it was fun to see. I'll obviously withhold judgement until I see the final episode, but people do hype themselves up way too much and then whine because they didn't get the exact thing they wanted.

It's not really about "hyping yourself up" though, the running premise of the show is Loki(s) figuring out "who is behind this?" Yes, it being a Loki is certainly a logical possibility, even the strongly likely one. But the multiple references to someone else, as well as meta-knowledge about his (alleged) involvement in the MCU is more than a simple sight gag. There's nothing inherently wrong with a red herring, or teasing something, but when you A) Don't follow through, or B) reveal the actual solution is more plain and obvious, you will disappoint people 9 times out of 10. If a chick drops a bunch of hints that she's dtf but then just tugs you off and leaves, sure you still had a good time, but it's hard not to feel a bit miffed.

After WandaVision I don't expect the answer to be anything beyond the blatantly obvious because given the timeframe they couldn't have changed anything in Loki based on the reception to WV. I'd still love to be pleasantly surprised though.

Damn, this episode was even better than the last.

One left, we're in the Endgame now.

There was also a statue head of the living tribunal in the void.

I also love all the people expecting them to asspull Dr. Doom of all people just because of the castle at the end of the episode.

Doom makes no sense though, he’s never freed himself from time like Kang and the mist dragon has.

In the comics, the mist dragon (forget his name) is the first being to ever break free from time, and had a domain that spread across billions of years and can freely move within that time period and across any timeline. The reason Kang’s domain only stretches back to 2000 BC is because of him. He (Kang) has put up a temporal shield to block him from conquering more than that. In the comics (and the MCU) it’s stated that he obscures time, so no one can see (or travel) through time until his existense, which is why they can’t see past the void.

It looks like they’re doing it slightly different in the MCU though. Here, he’s instead at the ”end of time” at the void (rather than the beginning of time) and no one can see into the future past him. He’s instead hinted and portrayed as a guard dog. It’s entirely possible that he (like Sylvie suspects) put him there himself to guard him, but I suspect that’s not the case. My new theory is that he’s instead placed there as a prison guard to stop Kang, and Loki/Sylvie will accidentally free him from his prison by subduing the mist dragon.

Who put the guard dog there? No idea. The other “friendly” version of Kang that worked together with the time keepers seem like a safe bet, but could be someone else or the time keepers themselves (if they exist) too.

Doom is involved in a ton of time travel storylines, it's not overly far fetched for them to find a way to slot him in.

Alioth is the mist creature, and it's a lot more intelligent in the comics, but it's also one of Kang's major enemies.

And the fallen Stark Tower has "Qeng" written on it - in the comics Stark once sold the tower to "Qeng Corp," which turned out to be run by Kang.

And there's also the fact that since episode one we've had Ravonna, Kang's love interest.

Also the Thanos Copter and Throg, what an amazing show. There was a fucking Enterprise in there, too.

Time traveling is not the same as freeing themselves from the constraints of time, like Alioth and Kang has. They essentially exists in all of time at the same time, for the time period their domain covers. They essentially exist outside of time.

It is of course entirely possible that I’m overthinking it way too much and he’s simply using Alioth as a guard dog, but that still seema stramge sinve Alioth is traditionally an enemy of Kang. Either way, as I’ve stated before way back during episode one, everything is still poonting towards Kang being involved somehow with the TVA.

Here’s a quick breakdown of Kang and Chronopolos from the comics that fit the TVA perfectly, with some slight modifications to set the MCU apart from the comics.

Kang also established the realm of Chronopolis which originally started as a fortress out of synch with time in the exact area of Timely, but it eventually grew and branched off to become a massive crossroads between Earth's past, present, and future. Kang used Chronopolis to monitor his conquests and when he was away from Timely, he had robotic stand-ins that would seemingly age and eventually "Victor Timely" died. He was replaced with "Victor Timely Jr."
Chronopolos sure sounds a lot like the TVA HQ, and those robotic stand-ins sound a lot like the timekeepers in the last episode.

I still think Kang is held as a prisoner though guarded by Alioth. And that the TVA is actually lead by Immortus (Kang’s future self).

Here’s a nice quote about Immortus, as stated by Kang:

He calls himself the Master of Time! "Gardener of Time" is more truthful! He prunes away the chronal branches deemed by others to be dangerous, reducing reality to a bloodless meadow! But that's not the way of warriors -- of men! I say, let it be a forest! Let it be a jungle!
Which is essentially what the TVA is doing.

My favorite Easter egg was the giant Yellowjacket head, pruned from a reality where Yellowjacket became Giant Man instead I guess.

Whaaa, got a time stamp? I missed that one.

Echoing others, this series has been a treat. No real complaints yet, we'll see if they stick the landing. Knowing that they have season 2 greenlit already leaves a bit more room for not everything being wrapped up tidily.

I’m going with a mix of both theories. It’s going to be Kang, but Kang is a Loki variant. I mean… Kang is supposed to be blue right?

    Spoiler: show

I don't think Immortus is a Loki variant. Here's a timeline of the events (past to present to future) of how I think everyone's going down

    1. Kang travels back in time and is stuck in a timestorm, appearing in modern-time New York
    2. Kang falls in love with Ravonna
    2. Kang meets Doom and decides to conquer New York
    3. Kang, running Qeng Corp, purchases Stark Tower
    4. Immortus (who is an older version of Kang) decides to try and stop Kang from conquering modern-time
    5. Immortus teams up with the Avengers and defeats Kang
    6. Immortus purges the timeline (hence the ruins of New York being in the void) and traps Alioth in the void, locking Kang "in the future" with Alioth as the guard so that Kang can not travel back in time
    7. Immortus invents the TVA, with people from the "nexus event" of the original New York timeline as Minutemen tasked with preserving the timeline
    8. To hide his involvement, he invents the Timekeepers as the leaders of the TVA
    9. Immortus travels back to the beginning of time for the TVA (3000 BC) to run Egypt as Rama-Tut
    10. Ravonna regains her conscious and hatches a plan to free Kang
    11. She kidnaps Sylvie and pretends to have her device stolen, and "grooms" Sylvie to go to war against the Timekeepers
    12. She sets up for Sylvie to meet with another prime Loki variant
    13. When they form a bond, they become the only other being that they won't betray which is why it creates a huge variation in the timeline
    14. Together, they make each other stronger, and with two Lokis together they're strong enough to enchant Alioth (which is the spike in the timeline)
    15. With Alioth enchanted, the prison that holds Kang is broken
    16. Kang is freed from his prison and he begins trying to conquer modern-time earth again
    17. Ravonna is reunited with Kang and hands over the TVA to him
