Keep in mind we don't actually know how long Loki was with the TVA. He remarks in episode 5 that he has completely lost track of if it's been weeks or months since he started.

Also keep in mind we barely saw Loki in actual fights at any point in the MCU. He's a trickster, so he mostly pulled strings. Secondly, he thinks he's meant to be king, and some people take that to mean to do as little effort as possible to get intended results, which blends perfectly with Loki's trickster persona, in that he's not going to put in all his effort to do things, he's going to do the least he can to get what he wants done. So he always intentionally did as little physically as he needed to do in the MCU. And besides, I don't think it's at all accurate to say "random new powerups" as if we had any idea the full breadth of skills available to Loki to begin with...we don't. He was never a main character before this show, we never saw him in epic 1v1's, it makes less sense to claim you know his full repertoire than to say what we saw was a random asspull powerup.

I think the closest we got to Loki 1 vs 1 anyone was against Captain America in the first Avengers movie, he was strong enough to knock a super soldier around physically, but that’s I think the physically strongest we’ve seen him.

And then factor in that this Loki is far more magically inclined than physical, as he mostly took to his adopted mother, a witch, and I don't think his powers shown in this series are really "asspull" territory.

I got a very Adam and Eve vibe from the finale. It came to me when they were talking to He who remains. I enjoyed Loki, and so far every Marvel show has been very entertaining.

Glad I wasn’t the only one.

Sylvie born of “Loki,” i.e. Adam’s Rib, who wanted true free will “knowledge” and gives into temptation by killing Kang. An act that unleashes horror all around for everyone, with the Lokis being banished from a paradise that was offered to them.

Not to mention He Who Remains chilling with an apple the entire time. They even purposely show the bitten apple on his desk when Sylvie decides to kill him.
