I had been trying to think of bands that meet this criteria, but they're not generally the kind of music I listen to.

Then I remembered alt-j. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of their third album and the second one was just okay.

I saw them live at MSG with Phantogram as the opener and it was a really good show. The singer from alt-j was nervous as fuck the first song, you could hear it in his voice, but after that he pulled it together.

Friends of ours that went with us had seen them 2 or 3 times before that in much smaller venues and figured he was nervous because MSG is such a large change from the venues they played previously.

Yeah I heard "I Feel Like I'm Drowning" on the radio and it was okay. I didn't look into his other stuff, though.

I feel like a lot of bands that make that kind of music are heavily electronic which is a turn off for me. I like guitars, bass, and drums.

I hate Beach House and similar bands, but I know people love them.

im with ya on the real instruments, i think i like that guys stuff cause it's got the real guitar in there on most songs

I dug this track too from Chet Faker. It's definitely more on the electronic side, but it is what it is.

Friend of mine just texted me about a band called King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard that has a large library and a range of sounds. Some their stuff is fairly metal sounding, like Organ Farmer, and then others are more psych rock, like Rattlesnake.
