Megadeth's 20th anniversary tour of Rust in Peace (where they played the entire album front to back) is definitely one of the peaks of my life. Especially since it was in San Diego so Dave was extra into the show since he's from the area.
I only got to see them once, with sevendust and monster magnet opening for them. This was for the cryptic writings your, at probably the height of the Metallica/Megadeth feud, and when the local rock DJ came out to remind people of upcoming concerts, including Metallica, you could feel the hatred from the fans there.

anyway while we’re here
Been on a Bowie kick lately
Metallica covers almost without exception suck fuckin balls not sure i've ever heard one that is remotely as good as the original
i think the issue is Metallica weren't the best songwriters but their riffs shred and their playing styles all go hard as hell so when you got Hetfield growling and Hammett's groovy wah slapping all over Enter Sandman it rocks but then when other cats get a hold of it it's like foh this bridge sucks go away
mostly agree but how about this one
well to be fair their songwriting was a lot better before Cliff died
Hetfield's specific way of playing rhythm guitar is basically impossible to replicate because it goes against all logic of how guitar is normally supposed to be played, and the man's voice is so distinctive that anyone else doing his lyrics sounds wrong.
miley has a song off that blacklist thing too and it's annoyingly good tbh but it's got elton, yo-yo ma(ma), chad smith and robert trujillo on it so basically cheating
Think i mentioned it in a convo with Gadritan on here before but i was intially learning by mostly watching Hetfield on VHS and I had been playing guitar for like 2 or 3 years before I was even aware that alternate picking was even a thing.
Had spent ages wondering how the fuck stuff like tremolo picking was even humanly possible until that realization came to me
2 decades later it still kinda fucks me up when I'm learning something new but at least I can play Master of Puppets right.
ayyyy lmaoooo
I absolutely love ghost, one of my favorite bands alongside Avatar, so I personally enjoyed it.
Most Metallica covers though do pale in comparison. Probably the best one I've heard is Ben Zimmermann covering Orion, and that's mainly cause it's instrumental.

The version of Creeping Death that they played at Woodstock 99 is what I would use as music if I were a pro wrestler.
