Ugh, can't wait for the embargo to go down. Gimme my infozzz.
Checked Reddit healer video. SCH seems gutted even more than at SB start, lol...
mann these SMN changes are so good. found my starting main
Healer changes in general sound pretty bad, making them even more boring and similar
idk, whether or not WHM's damage now matches AST's buffs remains to be seen, but aside from losing aero3 it's all improvements. and while AST obviously received (buff) performance nerfs, seems like gameplay is gonna be significantly better
SCH was bound to happen sooner or later. I feel sorry for them, but it was a literally perfect co-healer. it made balance impossible
these tank changes are incredible across the board
even if potencies end up nerfed a bit, paladin for instance checks off every issues I've ever had with the class. rip flash
A bit bummed about Rage of Halone because it was one of the coolest weapon skills in terms of animation.
Edit: These changes also make all three original tanks (GUN probably less so) look pretty boring/bad to play in <70 content. PLD already was pretty shit to level but WAR and DRK both look like they'll have the same problem now that PLD always did. 123 forever.
wat
they stripped the enmity combos you never used. that's it
WAR is still full of finishers and an OGCD, DRK is full of finishers and a couple OGCD, PLD has a DOT, their OGCD, and casting phase
At level 80 they're fine. At 60-70 they're all sort of the same, and it's worse the lower level you get. They have one combo you spam and a resource-based finisher you use when your combo gives you enough resources to do it.
at 60 cap, being under 60 felt awful. at 70, under 70 felt awful. jobs become fleshed out over time. you're complaining about something with very limited relevance that's always been apart of the game
I don't think that it has limited relevance in a game where you do a lot of synced content. But it's true, undercap gameplay has always been boring and continues to do so. I mentioned it in the past a couple of times, but it sucks S-E won't follow other games which simply sync down all your skills.
Jobs become fleshed out over time, but when you're trying to address Duty Finder times, the in-demand jobs should probably be fun to level up. I hate queuing for non-capped content because being a tank (and PLD specifically prior to ShB) just sucks in synced content. People quit leveling tanks because they suck in synced content, so there are fewer tanks in capped stuff because people don't level them, and there are fewer tanks in synced content because people quit leveling them and the level-capped tanks hate being synced. It's a stupid problem that only exists because they don't put any thought into how these changes affect everything that isn't capped, which is a huge chunk of the game for a lot of people.
The level 80 changes look nice (although lol at DRK nerfs), but they've botched the transition, again, and it's a recurring mistake I don't think is excusable.
limited relevance in the sense that the player can choose to never experience it outside of leveling. unless I'm overlooking something, roulettes and (past) ultimate fights are the only place they'd come up, and the former has never been more of an opt-in element than it is now
that said, synced abilities would be fantastic and they should certainly implement it
I take it all back. living shadow is a fray clone regardless of player race. tanking is canceled
Trust gameplay. From what I read Trusts do a pretty good job overall, even though some of them seems to actually include mistakes in their AI, so at least you can easily run and experience new story MSQ without being hindered by real people.
SCH's new healing tools are all good but I feel like they went too hard on its DPS.
They better increase raid damage because with these changes healers will be super boring to play and you'll be sitting on your ass spamming the same ability over and over again.
SCH needs more AoE attacks though... WHM has 3 (although one locked behind Lily use), AST has 2, SCH has... one. Shadowflare... gone; Bane.. gone. Might as well Repose myself until there's some healing to be done.
I was not a fan of RDM's one button AoE rotation in SB and I'm not a fan of these healer DPS changes either, especially to a job like SCH that used to be complex and fun to play. I have the feeling that we won't see a new healer job in 6.0 either... or ever.
Art of War is more damging than Holy but costs 200 more MP, doesn't have the 4s stun. But, WHM has Assize and Afflatus:Misery too? AND WHM has better ST damage with Glare compared to Broil III? Like wtf. Art of War should be like 180 potency, and give us back Shadow Flare or make Indom also deal damage. Thanks.
I think they undershot SCH's dungeon damage a bit. I imagine they'll realize this shortly after launch
Potencies aren't final yet so I'm holding my judgement on those until release. SCH simply seems the least engaging of the three so far.
I'm in love with DNC though, I think I'll spend some time getting that up to 70 before I jump into the expansion and then go through with alongside SMN on sidequest duty (so I can also gear up for RDM).
