Future proofs the game's story content by giving the players the option to play with AI if it's dead hours. I wouldn't be surprised if they slowly work their way through the backlog of MSQ dungeons (hell, even CM/PR) at some point.

It would surprise me tbh. Yoshida said they're sticking to their policy of not going back to update old content because they don't want to waste resources on that.
They anticipated healers jumping ship this expansion so they developed a way to actually get into the dungeons instead of making good adjustments for them![]()
Hey maybe I missed it, but what music tracks are playing in the Job Actions showcase trailer from the beginning and then when WAR pops up? The end seems to be a boss theme.
it's a remix of the omega theme, its excellent
My shortlist for SCH:
-Shadowflare
Having SF back creates an opportunity cost since it cannot co-exist with Sacred Soil.
-Art of War potency: 150->175
Holy: 140 potency, 600 MP, 4s Stun.
AoW: 150 potency, 800 MP.
Compared to Holy, Art of War is 25% more MP for 6% more damage. This doesn't even account for the fact that WHM has more MP regen than SCH with Assize (45s CD, 10% MP compared to 60s CD, 10% MP on Aetherflow), and Thin Air (120s CD 0MP cost for 12s). Not to mention that Holy is about 7-8 seconds of stun time over a few casts, which has a ton of utility. If they want to justify AoW's increased MP cost, it should either be significantly stronger or have some kind of Stun or Vuln effect added to it (increase damage targets take by 3%; works only on mobs that are stunnable)
- Energy Drain
GIVE. IT. BACK.
WHM can spend lillies on healing, and later redeem those for damage in the form of Afflatus Misery. SCH's gauge and Aetherflow can only be redeemed for more healing and shield. We need an opportunity cost where AF can either exchanged for damage (Energy Drain), or Seraph having some kind of damaging ability (600 potency damage added to Seraphic Veil?)
your insistence on opportunity cost is really bizarre. putting an offensive ability back on flow ruins their expanded healing kit
give them back a second or third DOT, reduce AoW's MP cost, and SCH is still a powerhouse but considerably more interesting
I mean maybe give them a bane that competes with AoW? healing kit is considerably less important in dungeons
And the boss theme? Oh my. Really really enjoying the music direction this expansion seems to taking, compared to SB.
Damn that theme is great, this expansion has got me so excited.

Also, there's an AMA thread on the reddit for the people that went to the event and one new piece of info I didn't see mentioned before: raid chests will drop gear for the jobs in the raid
AMA'ers raving about the state of tanks feelsgoodman. they seem to agree that despite them all having a similar toolkit, they all feel entirely different
hopefully the devs manage to take whatever they've learned from that and channel it into some healer adjustments in the very near future
It'd be nice if they had such a system where the chests let you gear your main in a decent time while the books (if they keep those) let you gear your alt classes, since a change like that would screw some folks out of alt gear come the weekly farm depending on the comp, short of just relearning a fight on said job.
I'm split on this. Its awesome that every piece of gear will be usable but at the same time like. That just means the one or two melee sets you don't have in your raid won't drop.
Like you're guaranteed to see Tanking and Healing sets. And if you're standard comp that also guarantees Aiming and Casting.
So basically you get to drop one or two of: Scouting, Maining, Striking.
Good for weapons tho I guess until reclears become much more common.
Assuming you’re proficient enough for it to matter, wouldn’t this allow you to rotate people into other jobs to take one set out of circulation and get another in?
Not an active raider, if that’s not a feasible thing
You could depending on the versatility of the player. But really it doesn't matter too much when the damn raid decides you want 4 ninja daggers within 12 weeks or some nonsense so overall its a net positive.
Definitely some negatives tho.
Most of the new stuff seems nice really the only letdown atm is the gutting of healers DPS abilities to be far too homogenous and thats going to require changes or reversions on some abilities (Aero III, Miasma, Miasma 2, Bane and something for AST as well). Have a feeling the next LL might have some last minute changes for healers as they're likely monitoring reactions and healers have been generally negatively recieved.
