Edit: Its amazing that the T7 crafting Materia are like +1-3 stats above the T6 materia. Glad i have a bunch of them stocked.

Judging by the jump from T6 to T7 materia (+20) I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say we're not going to be able to overmeld a T6 materia past the first overmeld slot still.

I was expecting them to at least diminish the gaps between the existing tiers, because right now, you have far too many casuals at lvl70 with no materia melded, and it really gimps them up against a player with full T6 in guaranteed slots.

Well they could always introduce a point in the ShB story that gives people a kick in the pants to meld materia. Show Thancred melding some into his GNB gear or whatever. It's about time for a reminder if they're gonna continue making us use it.

Checking back with Heavensward we got the prelim patch notes 3 days before early access and with Stormblood it was 1 day before early access. I kinda figured we should have something soon.

Honestly Blizz and other companies do this all the time. Money is money no matter what the intention is. I totally bought that $25 pink Mercy skin for OW because it was hella cute. Getting an ingame item for your "donation" is really what pushes people who would otherwise not donate at all over the edge for it. For people on a budget, it's really hard to rationalize donations but much easier if you get something out of it.

^this, easily. reminds me of the bastokian mission where cid was talking about how bastok was devastated after a large fire in its early days, back when it was mostly wood, and how two proposals were made - one for collecting donations, and the other to give priority in rebuilding to merchants in exchange for them contributing to the rebuilding effort - the former proposal was pretty terrible, while the second led to bastok slowly recovering from said fire.

it's nice for people to be altruistic and all, but lets face it - the majority of people aren't willing to sacrifice to people they don't know. and i say this - why should they? why would anyone WANT to make others experience sacrifice? especially when there's a perfectly good alternative that involves an exchange - mutual benefit to all involved? i'd say that that's truly a more "moral" approach, and one that's going to be more effective. sacrifice sucks. getting something you want AND helping someone else out, on the other hand? that's a freaking two for one steal!
