That part of the game was quite fucked. Hawke is the best protagonist they've done IMO. Not a super hero, not Destiny's Chosen. Just a guy/gal getting fucked by life at every opportunity. And the DA2 "final" armor set is the coolest of all 3 games easily.

No Denuvo or any other kind of 3rd party DRM for the PC version apparently. It's actually scary how many right notes they seem to be hitting, I don't want to be hurt by Bioware again.

People are butthurt it's not carrying decisions over from the previous three, but did the others even really do much with all the shit they did track anyway?

Really hoping this is good, if not for the sake of the game itself then at least for what it will mean for the new Mass Effect game.

Glancing over reviews it seems like the biggest complaint is that the gameplay is so far removed from the older titles

Skillup is also a known Origins purist so I'm not surprised he hated the combat. Calling the designs dated was really funny to me though.

Mortismal is the only one I actually listen to on RPGs. He called it his GOTY.

reviewers seem divided over the storytelling as well, but everyone saying the gameplay is fire for an action-RPG sense and the companions are top tier. not sure it's a day 1 purchase for me but will def play eventually for what it is.

As far as I can tell most of the reviewers complaining about not getting review codes are the ones who specifically cater to the anti-woke crowd and bashed the early trailer as such, so I don't think we're losing out on anything not hearing their opinions

I think Fextralife was denied a review code, I know a couple streamers I watch casually were denied codes based on their trailer reactions, and they aren't really part of the anti-woke bullshit (Aztecross is a big channel).

Either way, I'm gonna try it myself. Mort almost never leads me astray. I'm also not an Origins die-hard so I'm sure that will play a big part in whether any given person likes Veilguard or not.

Releasing the same time as the new Monster Hunter open beta is gonna give the game a couple days delay, which will be nice to just know if there are PC specific oddities not being caught in the reviews.

Cause otherwise it looks like a grand ole time.

It'll be a day or two while I play the Monster Hunter open beta but I'll take the plunge for y'all that are on the fence.

I can live with bad dialogue since it still generally sounds like the gameplay and overall story are up to snuff.
