i know it's often difficult for you guys to see beyond the gender wars as being male constitutes such a large component of your identity but the fundamental concern is the well-being of the child, not equality between the sexes. if you have a child you are financially obligated to support that child, full stop. and as Gred pointed out, though the specifics of child support laws vary from state to state, the parent who has primary custody is entitled to child support, regardless of their genitalia.

Abortion is not an "opt out" from the child's life. It is a prior question that deals with removing the child from existence such that an opt out is a moot issue. Abortion is legal it is a question of bodily autonomy not because women are privileged with an opt-out that men are not.

Post-birth, both sexes have equal opportunity to sever their relationship to the child to the exact same extent. A woman cannot get out of paying child support any more than a man can.
