it's a little funny most serious cinephiles fuckin hate the Academy because they think it rewards mainstream garbage. they love adjective adjective adjective underrepresented movies but they also award things like Shakespeare in Love and the worst Lord of the Rings.

I'm not sure how I feel with Halle Berry seemingly having a prominent role in John Wick 3.

Better is an adverb for suck. Now if I said I suck better cocks than you'll ever get to experience it would be saying that you all suck all the dudes from the CL personals off.
Anyway the message is pretty clear. The fact you guys couldn't understand it isn't on me. But then again reading what you want to is pretty common on the internet.

Shakespeare in Love had little to do with cinephiles on the Academy and more to do with Harvey Weinstein offering massive bribes and threats if it didn't win.

Winter Soldier is a fine film but it suffered from the same low-stakes no-consequences lightness the MCU phase 1 has usually trafficked in. Fury dies, but not really, Cap dies, but not really, SHIELD has been hollowed out by Nazis for decades, but don't worry it'll all be cleaned up by the end of the film and helicarriers evacuating irregularly-accented Slavs when Ultron comes. it really is well done, about as perfectly executed as that kind of superhero can be, but is a little hard-capped when you accept none of it really matters.
There were definitely limitations to Cap playing in a shared universe, sure (especially one where Disney wants to be sure that viewers feel like they can drop into the movies any time without previous context).

But I mean the "consequences" of the Nolan Trilogy are what... Rachel and Harvey (who is pretty much only there as a metaphoric symbol for a legitimate Gotham that doesn't need Batman)? Rachel gets replaced by Anne Hathaway and the series concludes with Gotham being good enough not to need the false idol of Harvey and instead recognizing the hero Batman always was.

Also arguably the loss of SHIELD and the emergence of the Avengers as their own entity fuels the conflict that under-girds Civil War.

and your conflation of the dialectics is reductive. TDK's central conflict is between a domestic terrorist that is the personification of violent chaos and pits him against a law & order vigilante (mostly) cooperating with the existing structure, a structure that is partially corrupted by said terrorist. Winter Soldier's big bad is not chaos but rather overreach in dealing with such.
That's why I said the antagonists of both films were the extreme opposite ends of the "chaos/order" spectrum. Joker is extreme chaos. Hydra is extreme order. They are both cognizant of that duality. The Joker's speech to Harvey about schemers, and how he is just there to show them that their schemes don't work ("Inject a little anarchy into the system.") Hydra premises itself as the only alternative to chaos ("It's the next step Nick. Are you brave enough to take it?" / "If you could stop them with a press of a button, wouldn't you do it?")

in a Patriot Act world it's certainly interesting and is Marvel's headiest thematic work (alongside Black Panther's stew of isolationism, international outreach, and militant black liberation) but conceptually falls a little short of The Dark Knight's warring over human souls.
I disagree. I think the protagonists fill this role in the movie, and in both they are similarly are cognizant that the conflicts are about more than themselves. Batman understands that despite the two ships don't blowing each other up ("This city just showed you that it's full of good") that the Joker is right that Harvey's fall has symbolic meaning; that's precisely why he has to be the villain that killed Dent and Ramirez. Cap understands the world isn't black and white, but is still able to see a clear distinction that modern police states have lost ("Yeah we compromised, sometimes in ways that didn't make us sleep so well at night. But we did it so people could be free. This isn't freedom. This is fear.") He evolves from just wanting to leave SHIELD to deciding to tear it down as opposed to just stopping Hydra.

they certainly weren't positives but they were also mostly irrelevant. Logan is a neo-Western and in that classical sense the plot is a) simple and b) mostly a means to an end. the death of the West re-imagined as the death of the superhero/mutant era + the aging gunslinger being forced to address his past were what the movie was about (just as what its models in Shane and Unforgiven were about) and whatever is needed to set the plot in motion is just a tool. wish it was a better tool but eh, not everyone gets a whore getting her face cut up.
I don't think you can laud TDK as the pinnacle because it had "stakes" while simultaneously forgiving Logan for bad plot.
