Probably.

You can pretty much make any theory "work" by slipping a few constants or scale factors in and hoping people don't notice.

We scratched out a totally physically consistent model where gravity went as 1/r^4 and calculated equations of motions and shit and just bundled everything up into an overall scale factor and if you weren't looking closely / didn't know better it would've looked 100% legit.

So back in the old days of BG, when I was still just a high school dropout and had not even started pursuing an undergrad in physics and math (god this forum has been around a long time), he and I were basically noobs in the science thread trying to follow discussions on physics from Woozie, Miz, and two other nuclear physicists whose names escape me.

My perspective was always: WAO VERY COOL I SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS MORE AND HOPEFULLY ONE DAY I WILL UNDERSTAND IT AND PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSION BETTER :^)

His perspective was always: Well I just read the wiki on differential geometry and spacetime manifolds and honestly I don't see what the fuss is all about, this is clearly straightforward and obvious. In FACT here's all the ways that these theories could be improved that I thought up overnight with no actual formal training whatsoever.

He eventually either got banned or run off, I doubt anything ever became of him.

Oh yeah that made me remember the context. He was trying to explain something about how simple some kind of physics question that I want to say Woozie was repeatedly telling him was beyond his understanding based on how he was representing it, but he just kept doubling down that he could simply conceive of the question in ways they couldn't. I had been trying (unsuccessfully) to follow the conversation but I caught that part and said "so you're telling me you can conceive of all things, at all times?" Because that's essentially what the question he was claiming he had answered required, and he responded that because he worked outside he had a lot of time to think.
