Warren isnt terrible, she just isnt great. And after Obama, people want someone to lull them with their voice and Warren doesnt do that. I have no problem with her, but I am not inspired by her like I was as a young lad and Obama. I dont think that's her fault, but that's just how it be for me. I'd still vote for her in the general though of course.

I like what Warren says and her ideals. I don't necessarily think she is a charismatic or engaging speaker. That is a tough hurdle to overcome. If I felt like she stood a chance I wouldn't mind her. I definitely think Biden and Sanders are not good ideas. I think they both had a chance and are past it. I don't want to see a repeat of what we had with Hillary. Not that they are as universally disliked but more like they force through a candidate that is past their prime because it is "their turn". I don't know enough about the rest of them to make a judgement call.

Beto carries the same problem. "He votes conservative sometimes so he's a fake progressive".

This is the biggest hurdle that the democrats need to get over. I am so tired of people fucking us over because their ideal candidate wasn't chosen and the candidate that was isn't "perfect" fuck I disagree with quite a bit like extreme corporatism and tax breaks for the rich and unfettered free economy blah blah blah but I also realize that there will NEVER exist a perfect candidate it just isn't going to happen. Hillary wasn't my favorite but I voted for her because 90%, 80%, even 50% in line with my views is better than the fucked up pieces of shit that are leading our country right now.

Well, yes. I'm just saying optics matter to the ignorant on both sides.

Tbfh I think voting on an executive based on their legislative platform is dumb to begin with. Domestic policy is not the President's job outside of being a leader for the rest of their party. I'd have voted Kasich over Bernie for Potus in a heartbeat with D down the rest of my ticket because he probably would've been better at the things Presidents actually do.

Why the fuck would you vote for the guy who's currently the governor of Ohio who the only legitimate good thing I can say I can say about him is he wouldn't sign a Draconian ass abortion bill.

    Fucking retarded.

As an Ohio resident, I've never understood the Kasich boner, either.

Based on the fact that our government is shut down right now because of the president along with all the other shitty policies that the President has championed and how his party is bending the knee on everything I don't buy this argument that domestic policy isn't the Presidents job. Clearly things have shifted and the President has a lot of sway over domestic policy now. Specially when it comes to social issues and executive orders.

Not saying you can support a candidate because of charisma and likeability? This isn't a high school prom and voting for the King and Queen. Yikes

There's a distinction between finding these things important because they matter to you versus because they matter in reality. The former means you're dumb but the latter means you recognize that the country is dumb. Otherwise Hillary would be president.

Pretty much what Gred said. You haven’t been paying attention if you can’t “see yourself sitting down having a beer with the candidate.”

It's mostly a temperament issue after a certain minimum level of competence is attained. I don't particularly care how likeable candidates are. However, their personalities are important in the sense that a large portion of their job is foreign policy and negotiation. A president who stamps their feet and throws tantrums when Congress doesn't do what he/she wants it to do isn't going to accomplish much relative to their party's control of Congress. Frankly, I feel like Bernie would have been roughly as ineffective as Trump in this regard.

For a president with solid Republican control of every branch of government, Trump has accomplished very little. The things Congress managed to do they probably would have done without him. In fact, they probably would have been more effective at getting things done with a literal sack of potatoes in the White House. The fact that the government is shut down right now over a presidential veto when the GOP holds both houses of Congress is a testament to how poor his domestic leadership abilities are.

So you're telling me you're the kind of guy that doesn't care who's in office and what they're doing but just wants things to function.

True. She lost by 70k votes across 3 states. I think the biggest problem is how the media wants to appear ~centrist~ and frames candidates as equal or downplaying the shittiest candidate. Constantly calling out false comparisons, while exhausting, is needy.

Warren has the right ideas but people don't like the college professor personality. I hope we nominate some charismatic person who can learn on the job that basically follows her policy agenda/goals.

Warren probably poses the least threat to Trump.
