the thing that still strikes me is that for some reason the left/our media thought keeping this investigation in the spot light was going to have a positive outcome. if there was grounds for impeachment/they had a good enough reason to impeach it would have happened as soon as they found it, someone would have leaked it and we'd have much juicier stories on our hands.

instead, the dumb among us were led to believe that we had a Russian puppet for president who was skyping putin every night for what he should tweet next, which not only makes us look weak as a country but also makes us look colossally retarded.

i would have been totally fine with trump being impeached in 2016, 2017 or even early 2018 after a report had determined there was grounds to do so. this would have been timely and made us not look like a laughing stock. i'm also totally fine with the fact that mueller did not find russian collusion on anyone that was investigated. i don't have many problems with a lot of trump's policy (i mostly think the wall/his stance on climate change is pandering but eh) but i'll agree he doesn't wear the office very professionally.

like what's the end game here? do you really take the #notmypresident thing to heart? are you only an american when a democrat is POTUS? this board is extremely far left so i'm looking forward to any shred of reasoning here.

The hilarity of all this labeling is that generally people who are "far" anything see themselves more towards the center, and those truly in the center are generally ostracized by both sides as either being too far towards the other guy, or not radical enough towards their side.

All these "what if's" and contemplation are over a letter released by an appointee of Trump after he fired the last dude for not being bro enough to him. Plus how many people has he appointed that haven't been caught lying their asses off and forced to resign because of some scandal or another.

They made a critical mistake focusing on the election so much on public appearances, because the American public didn't give a shit about the things he was actually guilty of as a result. All Barr needed to do is what he did, which is say "well they said he colluded and obstructed justice which this report refutes so there".

Without the full report, or an investigation, which we aren't likely to ever see, you cannot refute that.

Wasn't the whole investigation neutered as much as it could be without actually being shut down? If I understand it correctly they moved the objective of the investigation so many times and narrowed it down until its purpose was so specific in scope that it couldn't help but have a "positive" outcome for the president. IE it was only allowed to investigate the very specific topic of collusion between the president and Russia directly but not through other acting parties or investigate campaign finance law violations etc.

In the meantime several criminal investigations are ongoing involving the president at state levels. But maybe I am interpreting it incorrectly. This shit gets so complicated.
