but in earnestness i would posit a plurality of the politeratti here favor something like the Nordic model (or at least the socialisty phantasm of such they've constructed in their minds), particularly when run by the left parties there. this place is not comprised of too many marxist / anarcho-syndicalist radicals (though there are a few present) but favoring the most liberal mainstream parties of the most liberal nations on earth places one p pppppp pppppppppppp far over thataway.

Eh, I'm far-ish left and am not ashamed about it. We're sitting on a lot of problems that aren't getting addressed (fast enough) or not seen as problems by some. And as much as some right-wingers deserve every bit of scorn they cultivate, they'd still be able to benefit from things I'd like to happen. It's just that some people have grown past the point of pimping exceptionalism over all else and realizing that not everyone falls under that umbrella and still needs help, too.

i know you like their healthcare but except for a couple of you yall ain't moderate conservative over there either. you would largely vote with the liberal parties. and i'm not even castigating you for it i just don't like all the hemming and hawing like leftist is a bad word when your points of view and and your operating principles and your voting histories are fiercely partisan.

I mean, in reality these "left" vs. "right" ideologies are loosely connected sets of issues whose specifics don't really translate from country to country. In particular, it is difficult to identify parties analogous with the US "conservative" policy positions in other countries. In two years of undivided government, their one crowning achievement was lowering the corporate tax rate without closing any loopholes and opening more loopholes so the rich can get richer. Their non-legislative achievements are mostly focused on reducing regulation, which kind of circles back to helping the rich get richer. You're basically looking for a party whose policy goal is to increase wealth inequality, lower social mobility, lowkey make the country less democratic, and do what they can to fuck the poor.

If you look at our right and try to find analogies in other countries based on their social stances, they do exist. There are racists, zealots, homophobes, authoritarians, and xenophobes on the fringes of every body politic. Even those people, though, would balk when asked to support the Republicans' stated position on healthcare.

So it is really a choose your own adventure when deciding how "right" or "left" the average political party is in a European nation when rescaled to American standards. I prefer a more policy-focused scale, which means I basically don't see a real "right" in Europe that even comes close to the ~40% of Americans who approve of Trump.
