It doesn't equal out to what those powers still did trying to seize power and after they failed and some are still doing/trying to do. I'm really curious what you makes you think Red Dawn would be a better world

    *looks at America's stat sheets*
    *looks at camera*

America has been performing secret experiments on its citizens for years, especially the black ones. The war machine that's been going nonstop since America was founded. Just look up to see how long America has been at war.

No one is debating whether America has done and still does bad.

This is just wrong. America is not morally pure, and no nation ever will be, but China still engages in state sponsored ethnic erasure which America has not done since the Trail of Tears. Russia does the same for LBGT and is actively encroaching on sovereign territory in the type of settler-colonialist power grab that America gave up a century ago. Both are much worse for political dissidents than the U.S. This is especially true since the end of the Cold War, but even during it.

No matter how low the curve is, we're arguably ahead of it. That's all that really matters.

This is not an endorsement for America to do bad things. But the idea that America should cede primacy on the international stage is naive and a fundamental misunderstanding of the way realism functions in global geopolitics.

America is in proxy genocidal warfare in Palestine and Yemen.

American military bases are the new form of colonialism.

If every other country is getting a 53 on a test but America got a 57 is that really still doing better?

The goal is not to list bad things America does abroad. The goal is to list bad things America does abroad that Russia or China don't do (often far worse) themselves and compare it to the list of good things America does abroad that Russia or China don't do.

Sniping a few Palestinians every other week at a fence isn't quite genocide.

I would accept 70 years of support for Israel classified as "proxy support for ethnic cleansing" however

Again, the argument isn't whether America does bad things. It's a question of what is the alternative.

With America in control we have one hand on the wheel. That's not true with Russia and China. Do you think Putin and his best friend Assad would be better for the Middle East? Or China who is conducting active, not proxy, genocide of Islamic Uighurs?

Again like I said originally we don't know the alternative of what would've been the outcome if the allies lost WW2, there's only speculation of how the global geopolitical landscape could've been shaped. These are all hypotheticals.

Now if you're saying if America backed off right now what would happen? We're all watching it happen in real time. Europe is moving on without America, the middle east is gonna collapse.... again after the hasty withdrawal of troops from the region without setting up some kind of government for the people.

Would still exist if America were isolated by itself because these are domestic issues

    2. This criticism only really holds true for American bases located in American territories like Guam, the Mariana Islands, etc. We aren't exactly colonizing Japan with our bases in Okinawa.

Yes. That is the exact point. When you are constrained you to two flawed choices, the only way to make a decision is the marginal difference.

This is the reason why you vote for Hillary over Trump.

If America were to start to lose primacy RIGHT NOW in the modern era, with out current timeline, you get transition wars because the pursuit of hegemony is inevitable. These happen mostly through proxy, like the Cold War, but could escalate in the right circumstance. I already gave you one scenario for it in SPAM, which is Venezuela. Russia has bombers in the region and wants a post-Maduro regime that will give them oil. China wants Maduro because they invested 10B into Venezuela's oil structure. The best outcome is the U.S. invades and the post-Maduro regime honors the Chinese deal, preventing proxy conflict.

Syria is another potential flash-point where Russia must be checked.

At the end of those transition wars, assuming we reach the end, you get China or Russia as the global hegemon.

    It is worse. Undeniably so.

America only marginally better than China/Russia. Gotcha.

I’m sure your next post after you google-fu another talking point is probably gonna be Chomsky lol. I also like how you define overseas American military bases as the new form of colonialism and in the same breath criticize the Middle East withdrawal.

Equating Hillary and Trump in the same bracket is intellectually dishonest and that's how we ended up with Trump because some how they were painted as both terrible.

The numerous offenses American military personnel has committed on these bases because of Amerocentric and not respecting the law and government of the countries their allowed in could be deemed as settler colonialism.

How many people (non combatant civilians) have died from American forces so far? And replacing the government and culture there with more Americanized things. Hmm.

Don't bomb a region for almost 20 years nonstop after starting a war based on lies then up and leave one day and not put the puzzle back together.

No it seems you do not truly grasp the difference between America vs. China/Russia. Put forth even a fraction of the effort you have into investigating all the bad things America does, and we certainly have done many, and learn about Russia and China.

Chinese hege was the world order for a long time before European (and then American) hege. It was not pretty.

Geopolitics really is like politics in this way. If you're around in power long enough, there's going to be dirt on you. But there's still a difference between veteran politicians like Pelosi vs. veteran politicians like McConnell.

The numerous offenses American military personnel has committed on these bases because of Amerocentric and not respecting the law and government of the countries their allowed in could be deemed as settler colonialism.
    No, it really isn't.

Settler colonialism specifically refers to a colonial takeover of sovereign land which includes erasure of the native identity. They are different. China has settle-colonial intentions for Tibet. China has colonial intentions for Taiwan. They are different.

And by colonial takeover, I'm talking like Britain with India, the Dutch with Indonesia, not just mere military bases. America is not occupying any country/land save for the ones that have been integrated as U.S. territories that I already mentioned (Guam, Mariana Islands, etc.) and the actual land that comprises the 50 states.

You can say that U.S. military bases are sites of violence. Do not misuse words to say they are sites of colonialism or settler colonialism. The scholarship about this is very distinct and much more nuanced than how progressives critical of American foreign politics fling around buzz words.

It's not about American values. Hegemony is like the Democratic party. It might be flawed, but it's the structure through which progress must be made in the system we have been given.
