None of that surprises me at all.

It lets them handle some in universe humor (Cruise Iron Man), introduce outside people that were ret-conned into the MCU through real life M&A and fan demand (Deadpool, does Mr. Fantastic count?), FINALLY introduce X-Men or Mutants proper and being able to say so (Prof. X, Wolverine), wrap up what the real purpose of "What If...?" was (Captain Carter, The Watcher), tease She-Hulk (Abomination), and tie Loki's series back into things (Mobius, Loki, Sylvie, Kang.) Looks clean to me.
