Additionally you don't have to say "the doctor said." You can say "doctor said." Point is people CAN be regarded as their titles alone.

I'm just saying it looks and sounds weird af to me when someone refers to a character as if their title is their name/a proper noun. I wouldn't say "Donna and Doctor fought the Daleks" or "Luke and Darth defeated the Emperor," "Harry Potter survived Dark Lord's curse."

No, but while speaking casually you can say "Doctor [rest of your sentence], or something like "listen General, [rest of your sentence]." It's the reason nicknames based titles exist IE "Doc."
