Sorry to hear about you depression. While I empathize, I ain't got words that won't sound trite. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm still trying to put a build together for my home server. TDP and power consumption is an issue. It's one of the reasons I've never gone the home lab route (despite not missing being a sys admin). I could just buy a NUC plus a NAS and call it a day, but I wanna be able to do proxmox shit and multiple users on jellyfin with ease. Building a server is piss easy, building one within the the low fucking TDP and consumption limits I've set is a bit tough.
Not that you guys care about my blog post.
I've used QNAP NASs for awhile now and they work fantastic.
It's running off a Celeron processor so a bunch of transcoding would potentially drag it down, but never really had an issue up until this point.
i like that you're all smart
Thanks. A lot of it is just coping with the holidays. Step mother is busy with the grand kids and such, so just a lot of loneliness due to lack of family that is not bat shit insane or vile.
It's gotten a bit easier over the past two years, though this year has been rough, and can't put a finger on it.
Just got done visiting his grave, so I feel a little bit better today. I think some of it is also work related as I'm being transferred to the counties IT Division, so I'm now on manager #4 in the last 5 years or so.

I'll be surprised (and legit impressed) if that celeron can handle jellyfin. With regards to the pi-hole, if all you are doing is storing and streaming, by all means. If you're doing more, I always recommend people stick it/pfblockerng on an edge/small device running nothing else. That way you don't have to fiddle with your network if other shit goes down.
Jellyfin and Emby are basically the same thing (Jellyfin is literally a fork of Emby once it stopped being open source).
I'd prefer to use Jellyfin since it doesn't have the monthly phone-home requirement to verify the premium subscription (which I have a lifetime pass to) which is not a problem 99% of the time, but when I eventually get deployed again and want to bring it with me would be a problem.
But Jellyfin has a weird issue due to the underlying database that can't differentiate between two actors with the same name, which is set to be fixed in I believe version 12. It's a super minor thing, but it's enough to make me not want to use it as my daily server. Michael Jackson the singer did not appear in Trailer Park Boys, but Jellyfin thinks he does.
LMAO!
Super niche tech problems get me so turned on
