My dad did have a rottweiler once that jumped on him and used its own body to smother the flames when he accidentally lit his leg on fire, pitbull may have just tried to eat the leg off.

I have raised/trained pits from puppies and they require work because they are large dogs and inherently protective. People go one of two ways with them, hearing that they're either misunderstood gentle giants and will be amazing dogs if you just love them, or they hear that they're vicious killers and default to murder no matter what you do. Both of these people are wrong and dumb. Pitbulls are no more or less inherently dangerous than any other dog breed, maybe even less so in terms of temperament, but their massive power and bite makes them many times more dangerous than say, a chihuahua. The chihuahua might be a hundred times more likely to bite you, but the pitbull is going to do a hundred times more damage if it does. They are amazing family dogs, they're incredibly loving, they're intensely loyal, every pitbull I've ever met is ridiculously smart, but they are a dog breed that is inherently dangerous due to a) their size and b) being a dog that does dog things. You've gotta train them and manage them, but they are stupid easy to train due to their intelligence and will pick up what they should and shouldn't do very quickly.

Pitbulls are high effort/high reward dogs and people want to be able to just walk around free with this 80-100lb monster like it's no big deal. Put forth the effort though, and you'll have the best dog that ever was.

Which brings us back to my point: It's the macho cholo types that go for the pits then abandon them.

It's a pity and not the fault of the dogs, but I'm just not willing to put in the work necessary to adopt a pit that has gone through that.

That's fair and I would rather have someone who knows a pitbull isn't for them than someone who thinks they can fix one and all they need is love.

Yggdrasil is the big boi, all the hefty stuff goes there. Jarngreipr is the non-storage machine for critical infra, networking shit, pihole etc. Also acts as seedbox. Megingjord is there for high availability. They are all connected to a single UPS. If the power goes out Megingjord comes out of its high c state, automatically takes over and moves all my high availability stuff from the other machines into itself (it uses the least power, about 20 watts at idle) and shuts them down. When the power comes back, it hits them with a wake on lan, transfers the HA stuff back where it goes and goes back to high c state sleep.

3.5k is too much for a golden. Anything more than 2k is too much tbh unless the costs are related to shipping and importing. American born and bred? <$2k

ok but the average person is a retard and most pets aren't trained at all. if anything pitbulls should be a breed that requires some sort of competence license to own

I feel that way about all dogs. I love dogs, but the state of some dogs and the people that own them drives me up the wall. The number one reason I don't own a dog is because I KNOW I can't put the kind of effort I expect any dog to need. Also I travel a bit for weeks to months at a time sometimes. I can tolerate the idea of a cat sitter more than I can a dog sitter because it's hard to be a shit cat sitter.
