Also, pretty sure all the gear in that image was pre 75 aside from head, arms, body, legs and feet.

as a rdm in the 75 era literally every spell you cast required the use of differing macros otherwise your spells weren't even going to land
elemental staves, mnd/int tier breaks, and enfeebling/dark/elemental tier breaks needed to be used/hit or you might as well not even bother to attempt to cast the spell
Injecting packets to ensure gearswap on precast, just as SE intended.
just fyi before the wimpy mages start hyperventilating, yes mages probably have more macros needed, but melees still needed macros for not just tp and ws sets for their main weapon(s), but also secondary ws sets (multi hit? Crit/tp dependent?), secondary weapons as needed (and their accompanying ws sets), JAs, etc
lets be real. for the most part melee were mostly just macroing in and out of ws and tp gear
which is fine but the ones that didn't even bother to do that had zero sympathy from me
i played on ps2 and the base game had everything you needed to gear swap everything you did
i also played on ps2 and im assuming the only difference was i needed to hit multiple macros to switch in and out of gearsets instead of just hitting one
man i was thinking about drk but just remembered my blu gearsets, hoo boy
i don’t remember having any pld sets besides fire resist. id like to assume it was because i didn’t want to blink and not because i was a lazy piece of shit (it was like my fourth job leveled and only leveled it to help the LS)
I would change out non visible gear for utsusemi or provoke and stuff like that but yeah otherwise no blinking in and out when tanking.
It was a non-issue for melee too. You could even write macros that linked to other macros so all you had to do was spam the button to hit multiple macros in sequence for an entire gear swap. Easy peasy gitgud

The point was I didn't want to do more than I already was on pld.
I also wish war/mnk g.axe was ultra viable because I hated and still hate /nin.
SE and I are probably in agreement that /nin trivialized too much content, but it didn't help that I disliked the class mechanically.
SE tried to fix the problem with grips, but they didn't go far enough.
I did get a good chuckle out of trying to DPS on pld with mercurial sword and a grip.
Annnnnnnd my brain just exploded:
WHAT KIND OF MAGIC SPELL
