It's still largely following the comics, but has been moving elements around and removing some of the unnecessary bits.

it's been extremely faithful to the overall plot, but aye some minor stuff has been altered to streamline the storytelling / update some of the outdated stuff. overall an improvement imo, Kirkman, especially younger Kirkman, could pen some p tropey fanservicey stuff and worse had an obsession with side-stories and discursive deviations from the main plot.

There was also that asinine time travel/alternate reality storyline that served absolutely zero purpose.

Dinosaurus is important but the story could definitely be condensed down to a single season long plot, but the time travel one can absolutely go bye bye

solidified that Mark isnt a good guy, and he isn't willing to make the sacrifices for the greater good and is only redeemed cause of course they wrote him a happy ending but really he gave up the ability to fix all his mistakes and then some because he couldn't give up his daughter. A big character development moment imo.

But yeah, Dinosaurus needs to be condensed for sure.

he's certainly a conflicted and flawed guy but after the trauma he suffers who wouldn't be

I’m about 11 comics/chapters deep now. Cecil just recruited Mark after Nolan left. I couldn’t handle the cliffhanger.

based, think i knocked through the entire series in like 2 weeks. adaption been mint so far and you've already got through some of the big stuff in "you dad, i'd still have you", Viltrumite bug world fight, Guardians getting got. best is yet to come though Conquest, Anissa, [redacted] War, [redacted] War. can't wait to see it all adapted.

Given the pacing I think we're gonna see the season end on the "I thought you were stronger" moment which would be a fun cliffhanger to make people simmer on for a year.

i wonder if they'll end with that or finish the arc properly with the Invincible War. think you need Conquest to cometh in season 3 at the latest or you lose the Viltrumite plot too heavily.

whenever they do end it i am preparing to get super sad with Rex's "my skeleton". if that won't be till next season kinda hope he gets a one off like Eve did.

Steven Yeun been fantastic as well in an arguably more difficult role as the straight lead. show crushed the casting.
