I got to see several dipshits race past me in professional settings. I got to see jobs go to outside incompetent white dudes, instead of promoting from within. When I was freelancing network construction in the mid aughts, I got turned down for more than 75 percent of contracts that had my name on them and got 100% of contracts that didn't have my name, just my company's name. I got to deal with people complaining about my work or things I said when they thought I was a contractor for my company, only for them to recant that shit when we'd sit down for a meeting with my lawyer and they realized I was actually the sole proprietor of my company. I've had a woman lock her doors and call the police on me when I showed up to take her daughter out on a date, but didn't have the nerve to answer the door or say shit to me. I've watched ladies clutch their purses and cross the road if I'm not in a suit and tie. I've had police officers pull me and my best friend at the time over, sit us on the curb and tell us word for word that they "wish you niggers would give us an excuse to blow your brains out."

I could go on for days on this shit, but there is an experience black people have that a majority of white people cannot even begin to understand. It's the Rodney King shit. Black people go, "yo, this shit is fucked, this is what's happening to us." People are like "no way, that's bullshit, racism was over in the 60s when you guys got to vote. We have a black president now!" When that shit shows up on TV though, suddenly they can't ignore it. Scales fall from their eyes or they hedge bets and make excuses.

I find it funny that a country that loves to flex about how they fought an authority over taxes for their liberty and independence is so fucking tepid about human rights and demand civility from those seeking it.
