real talk the only way for someone with a palate to survive in London is to ceaselessly wander from Indian to Paki to kebab joints
Spanish Caribbean food > Mexican food by the way.
Moro de guandules con pernil is better than any Mexican dish possible.
I’ll still throw down some chicken enchiladas though.
la gente de las islas siempre fueron barbaros
A bowl of sancocho in the morning after a heavy night of drinking is like a real life 1UP.
just playin, i've actually never been to the Caribbean to my shame. don't think we even have a Dominican spot in town yall go to the East Coast.
Yeah, you heard me. Indian food is mostly bland and chock full of curry poweder/tumeric/blended onions. I like what it does to meat especially lamb (if it's a non vegan restaurant), but man most of it is just boring. Good naans are few and far between. They do make some great chutney and yogurt for dipping things in. Coconot rice is also A+.
Most Chinese takeaway in the US is shit. It's even worse in the UK.
There is an expectation for Chinese food to be cheap and getting to those acceptable price points impacts quality. Nevermind that the same type of ingredients cooked in much blander ways can be priced higher if the place isn't Chinese (see steamed veggies at random places vs. veggie dishes at Chinese places).
We have to set the parameters for what makes a cuisine supreme. Are we talking restaurant fare or also stuff you can make at home? Price range? Most singularly delicious dishes or greatest variety of flavors?
Jamaica is an awful place and I have no interest in ever setting foot there again.
I'm always in search of Gen Tso's that was like the kind in my tiny little podunk hometown. Dark Red Sauce, Extra crispy breading, shit is so hard to find, always orange lookin soggy mess these days smh
I've argued this several times among friends, but in terms of "You can only eat X food for the rest of your life, what do you pick" the answer has to be Japanese. Because the Japanese are master culinary thieves, there is a Japanese version for almost everything.
