I know it sounds so stupid, but I have no time to read during the school year (which sucks as an English teacher). I have to mad read everything during the summer.
I hate that, but it is what it is.
Summers coming up so I better start making a book list.

My biggest problem is once i start reading I don't stop until im done with the book. I'm a very all or nothing reader and it's much easier to commit to nothing.

I'm too picky on the books I like. I'm not like War and Peace snobbish or anything, just it takes a really particular style of writing to get me into it.

I hate books where I feel like the author half assed shit.
Like, I think the Harry Potter books are great because the level of thought, prewriting, and organization is obvious and done well.
I hate the Sword of Truth books, because the dude loves to drop off characters for 500+ pages and have them magically show up at the end to save everyone for no damn reason.

my favorite thing to do though is recommend people read american psycho and then laugh when they quit halfway through
that said, as terrible as the content is, it’s still incredibly written, and reading less than zero afterwards was disappointing
